I think I accidentally gave the impression that I wear short shorts. I don't. I wear Nike running shorts.

I don't think they're actually that specific... I mean a lot of them are common sense. That's probably why. For example...

- skirts: are feminine, don't show so much of the hips, etc, - personal view here relating to how I feel in a skirt vs pantaloons

- skirts well below the knee: to me it just makes sense to not show the thighs, and if the skirt is longer - if you sit down or if it's windy, you still have coverage

- 2 fingers below the pit of the throat: if you bend down, people can't see down your shirt... also if it's deeper, it's kind of getting closer to showing cleavage

- sleeves: if you raise your arm, people can't see into your shirt, also showing too much of the shoulders and back (like strapless dresses) could affect the imagination

- not transparent without backing: so people can't see undergarments, again relating to imagination

- not tight: again, imagination

a lot of it is probably related to imagination... I feel like this type of modesty - it makes it kind of impossible to start imagining details of the body if we're speaking of normal regular guys. (NOT those who LOOK for lust, or can find it anywhere).

I used to wear really tight pantaloons, bikinis, tank tops, strapless, etc... I've worn all the modern fashions. As a Christian and later specifically as a Catholic, I remember just being "aware" of what i'm wearing at church. I didn't actually think about it, in that way. I was just aware of what could be seen of me. Later on, I began feeling uncomfortable with this. This is not because I think the body is bad. But I just think imagination can go places, easily, especially if guys are more visual. For example, how girls wear leggings are pantaloons... the trend that is criticized so much, but basically you can see everything, right... I didn't really think about all this before and maybe other girls don't and so I can't talk about their thoughts, etc, but just the outfits sold in stores.

I think with the modesty standards given in the website, the reason I like them is because they make it basically impossible to objectify the individual (unless the person is looking to do that through other ways) or somehow dress against your dignity as a child of God. I find that this way, the focus is more on the whole person, less on their body: more on their face, what they're saying, etc... so it protects dignity in that way. I'm not saying everything else is equally immodest or that someone looks like a prostitute if they deviate a little bit. There's a big difference between a really low cut blouse and one that's 4 fingers beneath the pit of the throat,  obviously. But what happens if you bend down? or can that lead to more immodest fashions? etc. That's why I like the idea of it just being stable: just following these standards, and a society can't go worse then. But if we accept a compromise, who's to say we won't accept a bigger compromise? I'm not talking about you specifically, cause you're Catholic and have morals and won't dress in grossly immodest ways. I mean society accepting a bigger compromise... like how prostitutes wear clothing that later becomes mainstream. If it was wrong then, why is it right now? People might say "times have changed", okay but how does that make it *correct* now? the only thing that's changed is our culture has been more desensitized to immodesty... but isn't that a bad thing, not a good thing? and that's basically all my thoughts on the matter... lol... I think I repeated them many times so I don't actually have that much, but just something I could pray about I suppose :)

God bless
