Pio Nono
JMJ 5/29 - Vigil of Pentecost Chanman450, This is a good question, and any response (by the nature of the question) must be vague and over-arching, as it is a deeply personal question. Ultimately, how you grow in prayer is the work of God while we sit by and let Him do His work. But a good first step is this: quiet yourself as best as you are able in front of the Blessed Sacrament. This may sound easy, but it takes a long time to stop all of the tapes running in your head. In my own case, it can take as long as a half hour to get quiet, but I'm a loud person. You'll find that, when you embrace silence as best as you are able, you'll just naturally grow in prayer. Talk to your pastor or spiritual director as well; he knows you much better than any of us do. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
