MarysLittleFlower
I'm wondering how we can help a friend who maybe has depression.... it is something related to losing hope? (for various reasons! not here to diagnose :)).
MarysLittleFlower
Honestly, if people are that depressed just bring them a box of puppies to play with! If that doesn't work then just start snapping the puppies' necks right in front of their face until they feel something and beg you to stop or tackle you. I've done it before, saved loads of money and time becuase they avoided going the therapy. This [mod]EDITED~~LANGUAGE [/mod] snapped them right out of depression, they felt very connected to those puppies. :o I hope you didn't snap the puppies' necks... I think that's the part people got confused about. Edited May 11, 2013 by MarysLittleFlower
IcePrincessKRS
prayer is not magic... It was kind of a joke... :o I hope you didn't snap the puppies' necks... I think that's the part people got confused about. I wasn't confused. I was disgusted.

T-fish
Either get a clue or go troll somewhere else. Sorry you get played by the devil. Enjoy the smell of dead fish when God asks you why you chose a pill over Him.
CatherineM
My husband doesn't give up God to take his schizophrenia medication. Just the opposite. He thanks God for the researchers who discovered it, for the company that paid for the research and development, the people who served as guinea pigs to test it, our federal government for approving its use, our provincial government that added it to our formulary, our insurance company that makes it affordable, the physicians who properly diagnosed him and prescribe it for him, the pharmacy that stocks it and delivers it to the clinic where he receives it, and most importantly, the nurse who braves his bare backside every two weeks to give him the four inch long needle. God sent each and every person in that chain in answer to my husband's prayers. It would be kind of rude to God to throw that wonderful gift back in his face by turning it down. BG45
The cartoons made that all the more readable and lighthearted than it had any right to be. So I appreciated them! "Fish are always deadest before the dawn". And blog post is straight on about what it feels like. I can remember a year's span where I didn't seek help (and should have), where I pretty much felt nothing and life was just a slow sucking morass. Went through everything she described and it all terrifies me in retrospect.

And ms scholar, what Gospel did Jesus hand out Haldol, Zyprexa, Thorazine, Invega, etc shots? The last time I looked My Lord was exorcising demons. Everyone who takes psychotropic meds is a guinea pig. duh. You actually believe the pharmaceutical companies research? lmao You should start a Soteria Housing Project like Dr. Loren Mosher, MD Jesus saves us the psyche/soul if we have patience and Faith. That don't come from any needle. Salvation comes from trying to pass through the eye of a needle. I hope you find the Truth and begin to Trust in Jesus. God is the only medicine for those with afflictions of the souls.
MissyP89
Maybe some of us have turned to faith. Maybe faith isn't always enough to heal the body. Maybe sometimes God's answer is "no" or "not yet." Mental illness is a real thing. It's a daily struggle and a daily cross for so many people. Do we believe anyway? Yes. Do we still love God? Yes. If anything, mental illness is just an opportunity for us to run to His arms even more. But sometimes, that doesn't always mean healing. People that love Jesus still get in car accidents, still die of cancer, still lose their jobs ... depression is no different. Sometimes life just happens. And sometimes we need more than just faith to get by. Please stop condescending to CatherineM and all of us who are genuinely trying to get by. It's insulting.
