DiscerningCatholic
Okay, so I went to turn my computer on this morning and got a screen that said: "No bootable device found." I have an ACER Windows 8. I haven't dropped it or spilled stuff on it or downloaded anything beyond a few pictures and some songs from Amazon. What is going on?
Nihil Obstat
Make sure there is not anything in the disc drive. Then check the hard drive to make sure there are not any loose connections or anything.

Nihil Obstat
Interesting. Why do you say that? For the same money I could have bought a spectacular PC laptop, and the Mac is not as good for the things I primarily need it for, which is essentially business applications, especially Excel. But mostly the money, because if I were willing to pony up I could get the Mac versions of everything. It is just always more and more money though. I would rather have an equivalent PC. And when I replace this one, which is uncomfortably soon, I will switch back.
Aloysius
first what Nihil said, if there's nothing in there, press F2 to enter BIOS setup, and find the option to reset booting defaults. don't know why they would be randomly changed, but it's worth a shot. you could also press F12 while loading and get the options of what to boot from.
