What Is Pro-life?

I apologize if this question has come up again and again but... I am a teen philosopher by hobby and not profession. When I debate I like to have a solid definition of the words and phrases I use. When I hear pro-life, I assume that it means support of all kinds of human life. I am curious as to what opinions different people have about the definition of pro-life. My question is simply: What is included when you say pro-life? anti-abortion? anti-death penalty? anti-euthanasia? all of the above? Maybe anti- some kinds of these? Please tell me. I love to hear what people think.

Thanks!

I include all of those, as well as support of pregnant women and mothers and fathers.

All of the above and anti-suicide as well.

Btw, welcome to the Phorum! ;)

The Pro-Life platform supports life from conception to natural death, so all of the above!

People who refer to themselves as "pro-life" are often times pro-capital punishment. If you tell the average person that you're pro-life, I think they'd assume that you were referring to the issue of abortion exclusively.

It's the great reactionary fight against women of insufficient sexual reluctance.

A word of advice to the OP: Don't waste your time debating the preciousness of human life with people who reject objective morality; it's a waste of time. There are enough "pro-choice" theists out there to keep you busy.

The conceiving of a child is never "really bad luck."

I think that human life is extremely valuable.

There are pro-life anti-theists as well. Christopher Hitchens was pro-life, though I'm not sure to what degree. He opposed abortion and the death penalty, but I don't know if he opposed suicide or euthanasia.

He thought abortion was repulsive, but didn't think it should be illegal. Also, he was a major exception to the rule.

I don't really care to have people who support neo-con foreign police and cutting social programs lecturing me on the preciousness of human life. Which is why the pro-life movement is suck a crock. A clump of cells with no capacity for independent life and no conceptualization of their own existence is not a human person. That becomes much more murky as those clumps if cells start to actually develop into something recognizably human.

Not really. His position is pretty close to mine and my position isn't unique at all. Step out of the echo chamber every now and then. It's lovely.
