Gabriela
Hi. I'm an immigrant to the USA, but not from Africa. The term "African-American" implies a heritage which I do not posses, but most people assume that I'm African-American before they get to know me. I don't have the cool foreign accent that my parents have. Yeah, most Americans see a black person and immediately assume African-American. To be fair, most of the black people white Americans have met are African-Americans, so it's understandable. In my experience, though, you can usually tell an African in the US by the look in their eyes. They "gaze" differently from African-Americans. Are you from the Caribbean or Europe? cmaD2006
What the heck with "Hispanic/Latino American" vs. Central/South American? For that you need to add Carribean, Mexican, etc. because you just lumped them all under Hispanic/Latino American; and if you're going to separate out Central/South American then it's important to make the full distinction for all Latin American countries (or regions). And the income question? That's out of line particularly for a PUBLIC poll. That's no one's business. Period (especially in a public manner). Now if the answers were private then maybe I would have answered.

Now if the answers were private then maybe I would have answered. 1) I did not know what it meant for the poll to be "public". I thought that meant it would just show the aggregated results to you after you voted, not that it would show you which PMers voted which way. (It actually took me several days to realize that you could actually see which PMers voted which way, since you have to click on the question to see that.) I don't make a lot of polls. 2) PM limits options to 15. Sorry, could not possibly fit all the world's geographic regions/nationalities/ethnic identities into 15 options! If you're so upset by it, cmariadiaz, you could just ignore the poll. Or click any of the "annoyed" options on the poll, since it is perfectly impossible for me to please absolutely everyone, especially in matters regarding money, race, and nationality. Toss a little charity my way, yeah?

Toss a little charity my way, yeah? I really didn't like the demographic breakdown of race ... again, you didn't have to break out Central/South American separately. That's my biggest problem. In addition to the money question (way out there for a public poll). Before posting such a poll you could have tried a "test" poll ... or looked at older polls. A lot of the polls have the "public" option and you can tell what it means. And that "Toss a little charity my way, yeah?" comment? It goes both ways. You wanted comments, so I gave you an honest opinion.

I have no idea. :) I did answer what a lot of people said. I won't post my financial situation in a public manner (I don't even post my work place in Facebook!). The Hispanic divisions really got to me though. A Central/South American is Hispanic/Latino. Edited May 7, 2013 by cmariadiaz

Obviously over half the poll voters didn't have a problem with it... those that did had an option to pick while still participating in the poll.
