Where Should I Go?

What should Raphael do for the rest of his college? He needs a place with a major in Latin, at the very least a Catholic subculture, and it must be affordable, since Raphael and his family is dirt poor...

I've looked at several colleges and:

University of Nebraska at Lincoln: Application Deadline Passed
Steubenville: No Latin degree, only a Classics degree
Catholic University: Way to expensive, but otherwise excellent
University of Dallas: Excellent Latin program...not sure how magisterium-loyal it is...

HELP!!!

I hear UD is orthodox, but I don't know for sure

Have you looked into Thomas More in NH? I'm pretty sure they have a Latin program. And they're very affordable. ^_^

Ever heard of Ave Maria College? I had some friends that went there and loved the quality of the professors.

I was just going to suggest UD, but I see that it's already on your list. It's a good school. I almost went there. I think it's a very good school in terms of theology, though I never did get to visit and check it out for myself. I know a lot of people who go or have gone there, and they loved it (and are strong in their faith).

I have heard of Ave Maria, and would certainly apply, but the cost is high and they don't have a Latin Major...only a Classics Major (which means more Greek and I detest Greek)...

I'm leaning toward UNL (very good Catholic diocese and Newman Center, and a good Latin program) if they will accept me as a late applicant or UD if I can get enough financial support. This is going to be difficult, though...

though i love Steubie with all my heart...
Dallas has a better Latin program--and better way to cover expenses. go there. they'll help you work out the financial stuff the best.

Really, how? The financial part is the biggest worry...I mean, I can find good Latin programs, but at what cost?

This is actually shaping up nicely. I was planning on UNL, but found out that I would have to wait because the deadline passed...well, God gave me the feeling to have a family kind of late in the game...so perhaps that was part of the plan...I wouldn't be able to go to Lincoln (UNL), so I would have to look elsewhere, namely UD. In the mean time, I found out that the transfer student application deadline for UD is the first of July...plenty of time! And I have heard here that it is orthodox, and I love the weather down there (my allergies don't bother me there!), and I'm not sure, but I think my aunt is in the process of moving to Irving, which is where the campus is...I might not have to pay for room and board!

Let's hope this is easy...the last two months' discernment have been difficult, I need to catch a break about now...

LOL! I saw, I saw! It just won't work! I'm sorry!

Move to Dallas, then we'll all be happy.

I remember being in Minneapolis a couple of years ago...to many liberals, but you have a nice mall ;)

Hey, even Minnesota is up for grabs in this election... we may break even...

HS_Dad is so funny with regard to the weird political stuff of this state... he keeps assuring me that the rest of the country isn't like this... He said that about the weather, too... I think he wants to move...

You like the Gall of America? I like it too... It's like 15 minutes from my house... but I hardly ever go there...
