Picture111111-150x150.pngThe St. Jane de Chantal Gallery Community will begin as an “oasis” community within the Georgetown Visitation Monastery on June 6th, 2013!

If you are a young woman seeking a contemplative and monastic vocation, have a pioneering spirit yet also value tradition, this community may be your Call!

As an “oasis” community, young vocations will have the opportunity to be together with their peers, but also benefit from the wisdom of the Senior Visitandines in the host Monastery, Georgetown Visitation.

Being present to the Professed Sisters, yet with a space they can call their own, new members of the St Jane de Chantal Gallery Community will receive a classic formation in the spirituality of the Visitation Order.

We will be posting the spiritual elements of this formation throughout the week.

If your heart responds to the grace of this invitation to be a pioneering Visitandine within the Order’s tradition, please contact either of  the Core Members of  the St. Jane de Chantal Gallery Community:

Sr. Marie de Chantal VHM            Sr. Anne Francis VHM

Totally Franciscan

I am not quite sure I understand the focus of this new community, but I do wish them well and many vocations.

I think the purpose is to start a contemplative house within the older convent of teaching sisters. Probably to support the teachers with an apostolate of prayer. If I'm not mistaken, the Georgetown convent has not received many vocations of late, and the other Visitation monasteries (the contemplative ones) have. So this may be the beginning of a transition of that community to a total-contemplative house.

But that's just speculation. :-)

CF, do you know if the new contemplative sisters will wear the wimple, like so many other contemplative Visitandines?
