Affirmation Thread

Missy, I'll start with you, since you listed me.  Thank you, first for the affirmation.  At the Meetup, we both apologized, and it seemed probably like I blew it off; I want to admit now that I just wanted to get away, because I didn't want to cry; as brief as it was, I meant mine as well.  You are a fiery, intelligent, passionate person.  I have no clue how you often stay as positive as you do, but you're one of those people who seems to roll with any punch that life sends your way, and you are one of the few people I know who can actually say that they're in a field that they love; you're an editor not because you knew someone, but because you deserve it.  And even though you still haven't finished season 2, I am proud to have you as a Pega-sister.  (Brohoof?)  Also, I am truly happy that you're engaged to a wonderful gentleman, the next person on my affirmations list.

Brian, my fellow brony and Pokemon Master.  You are an intelligent man with a heart of gold.  You are patient and kind and through things like Saint Baldricks, you've shown that you're willing to go that extra mile to help others, where many would draw the line.  Your ministry with the homeless inspires me, as something I doubt I could ever do.  Brohoof dude, brohoof.

AnneLine, my Egret loving friend, I cannot thank you enough for all the times we have spoken, texted, etc. and all that you have done to help me through various things.  You have a true heart to help others and a marvelous sense of humor.  (Also the FlyLady stuff has really helped in keeping the apartment clean.)

TJTM, thank you so much for all your care and support.  There have been days when the only thing that made me smile was a PM waiting from you, filled with encouragement.  Sorry I'm such a bad text buddy though.

CatherineM, you have answered, in the Q&A, so many of my questions during my first two years here, and for that you deserve a medal.  You are a wealth of both practical life experience and theological knowledge.  You often amaze me.

Hasan, ah Hasan, the glorious Sultan.  We disagree on many things, however, I have never wavered in my respect for you.  You take a position, you stick to it, and you defend it, come Hell or high water.  You're intelligent, well read, and well traveled.

Fink, you are such a funny and creative guy.  You always know the right thing to say and when to say it, and when to just make someone play Minecraft and build their frustrations out!

Adrestia, you are such a kind, compassionate, intelligent person.  I really don't think I could have passed my Qualifiers on my second attempt without your kind words and advice after I failed the first time.

LD, my main science guy.  You are my Bill Nye, my non-Atheistic Richard Dawkins.  You are one of the most kindhearted men I have ever 'met', and I am so glad you want us all to come visit you for either the PM Meetup 2013 or 2014.  In all seriousness though, you keep astronomy alive for me at times when I become apathetic, and you have my sincere thanks.

Nihil, my fellow brony.  Often when we speak, you're on such a different theological level, that it goes over my head, but that just pushes me to read more.  I appreciate your insight and wit.  Moosey is truly fortunate to be marrying you soon.

FP, we don't interact a lot.  However, I have the utmost respect for your intellect and for your courage.  I'm certain that whatever path you take in life, you will find fulfillment, if nothing else than because you will make sure that you do.

MS, thank you for putting up with me when I get too passive aggressive.  Believe it or not, I do appreciate your gentle reminders when I do.  Also your son is cool (and your husband too).  I think you're one of the first PMers who really interacted with me on my first days here on Phatmass, and it meant a lot to have one of the "regulars" treat me like an equal poster.  It also may have helped you didn't try to convert me to tacos.

Dust, thank you.  Thanks for Phatmass and for its role in helping me stumble along the path to the Church.

Ardil, you are one of the most fun people to party with ever.

Kolbe, not only do we share a patron saint, but you are one awesome dude.  I think it's utterly hilarious we live about two hours apart and had to meet up for the first time more than 3,000 miles from home.  The offer to have a weekend in this small town is still on the table if you ever want it!  You've let me rant at you and you've dispensed wise advice.  Far more wise than your inherent chumpiness might imply.  I know that beneath your sarcastic exterior, there's just an inner llama waiting to be hugged!

Papist, you have always struck me as one of the wisest, calmest people here.  You only reinforced that last year and the meetup, and I would love to visit sometime.  You are also a true connoisseur of a certain type of beverage, and I bow to your knowledge in it (and your theological knowledge as well).

Lil Red, you are an awesome friend and a truly deep person.  I often read your blog in awe of what you come up with, which I never would in a million years.

(I have more, it's just that I've reached the point of "I must post or PM will eat it, I'm sure" paranoia. :P )

Why did I only just discover this thread?!

LilRed-- I know we don't really talk one-on-one all too often, but you prop a lot of my posts and I always love what you have to say. You're such strong woman and you have a great sense of humor. When I try to remember what it was like for me to first come on Phatmass, you are the one I remember the most for welcoming me so warmly. Thanks for that. You're awesome :)

Dylana-- You're awesome. And I look up to you even though you're younger than me. Stay fantastic. :smile3:

Miles-- I think of you almost as a little brother. You were another of the defining PMers during my first weeks Phatmassership, and I remember noticing that though everyone seemed to find you annoying, I wasn't quite sure why. Your posts almost always make me chuckle a little on the inside and it feels like we've known each other longer and better than we actually have. You're awesome, and don't forget it!  :like2:

Arfink-- I'm friends with you on like 57 social media platforms, but I think we interact most on Google+. You're a really great artist, and seeing your daily draws always brightens my day. it's awesome to see your continual improvement. You're also very kind and caring. I've given you little reason to be very concerned about my well-being (that I can remember), and yet you are all the same. Though I may seem indifferent to your concern or offers to talk, please know that I'm not. Your kindness and caring has made a difference and I really appreciate it :)

Lil'Red, I know we've never really talked, but you seem like a really strong woman with a strong passion for the Lord. I always enjoy your posts. God Bless you. :)

I was told I was attractive recently. As a result, this meme popped out at me when I saw it:

All the Priests, Sisters, etc. around here: I don't know if you'll even look at this thread, but I always like to see what you write. You have more wisdom and experience that those of us in VS, and it's always good when you share that. It's great to see your posts elsewhere too.

Fink: I always like looking at the drawings in your thread. I don't post in it often, but I do like to see it.

There are more I could mention, I'm sure, but I can't think of anyone else specifically right now. (VSers, particularly those entering soon/those who have already entered, but I already mentioned them previously. And there was somebody else I was thinking of, but I can't remember who.) But all of you are awesome.

Fink: You are like a brother to me and are generally just rock. Your passion for your art and general geekery inspires me.

DC: Girl, you are FIERCE. You have such fire and you always make me laugh. Even though you're a Dominican. :P

Claire: You have an amazing strength and courage that I haven't seen in people many times your age.

HB: Your perseverance in your vocation is such an inspiration. Your faith and trust in God really shine through.

Miles: Your incredible trust in people despite all the things you've been through is really remarkable. More of us could do with that.

CatherineM: If I can be even half as amesome a mom as you are then, well I'll be one happy bunny. You rock.

And really there are a whole lot of people I'm missing out here because so many people here contribute so much to my life and I really can't say how much y'all mean to me.

Awwww, you the bestest EA!

Time for me to make another round:

TJTM: You're such an inspiration! You'll always have a special spot in my thoughts after all the conversations we had, God bless you in the hard stuff you have to do in your new place.

Trisha: Thanks for being the first! You taught me a lot, and put up with even more.

Luke: You're such an awesome bro, hope your dreams and projects all go very well.

BG45: Another man I'm absolutely proud to call a brother. Keep up your good work, keep growing in Christ. :)

the stakes at Belmont Park 1978.

Side note: Affirmed is on the rail. His legendary arch rival was a beautiful horse named Alydar. Alydar was probably the greatest horse in history to never become a champion. He came in second in all 3 Triple Crown races behind Affirmed.

At Belmont, only 3 other contestants bothered to enter the stakes, so obvious was it that Alydar and Affirmed were the only worthy opponents for each other. In the above picture you can see all four of Alydar's feet are off the ground.
