PhuturePriest
Yeah, but I don't know if my personal "harmful attacks on other religions" meter is way different than what counts on this site, so I don't want to be "that guy" who is reporting posts unnecessarily. Which is why I'm posting this thread, because I'm trying to figure out exactly what the mods think counts for Phatmass. I don't think you will ever in your life have to worry about being "that guy". PhuturePriest
 I have absolutely no recollection of that report at all. Maybe if you spent less time watching Arrested Development and more time focusing on the tasks at hand you would have seen it?
homeschoolmom
Could be that it happened when I was doing something else. I do other things... sometimes.

Ice_nine
that Egyptian guy who got baptized by benedict XVI after converting from Islam and moving to Italy a couple of Easters ago left the Catholic church because she has not been as opposed to Islam as he believes she should be and that she is too approving of immigration of Muslims into the Christian world or something like that. True story.
dUSt
In the final analysis a man must simply speak the truth and if that gets him in trouble at an internet forum . . . so be it. After all, every man will be judged by Christ based upon what he has said and done and if he failed to stand up for the truth as he knew it, he will be judged accordingly. Nobody has ever gotten in trouble on phatmass for speaking the truth. There have been plenty of people who've gotten in trouble for being uncharitable jerks. The "what" of a truth is virtually nullified if it is delivered in a manner completely contradictory to The Truth. "Islam is a false religion. Catholicism is the one true religion." <-- Acceptable. "Islam is a false religion made up of nothing but suicide bombers. Catholicism is the one true religion, and one would have to be mentally retarded to think otherwise." <-- Not acceptable. Common sense manners. Common sense matters.
BigJon16
Truth without love is blunt indifference to the value of every human life. But love without truth is irresponsible indifference to what really matters. Or something like that...
jazzytakara
I usually aim to not say anything about other religions/lack of religion. I know I don't appreciate it when someone faults me for being Catholic, so I try to extend respect to all other parties. If I find out someone is trying to hurt others as a result of their religious beliefs, I will speak out, otherwise there is no need to attack another. I don't believe in collective guilt, you can't fault an entire group of people for the fault of others. For instance, I used to really dislike Atheists. I had an ex constantly ridicule my faith, pulled every insult from the book of insults, attacked my intelligence, and tried to make me come to agree his belief that only idiots believed in God. I had similar experiences with other Atheists, see some of the pages on facebooks, or some well known celebrities that speak out against Christianity. I was about to write them off altogether, but then I realized a friend of mine was an Atheist, yet she was fighting for freedom of religion in the US during the last election. That was one of her fundamental reasons for being against Obamacare, that it violated freedom of religion. She showed me that not all Atheists were out to get and that I needed to heal from my past experiences. My point is we may have a lose interpretation of other religious groups, but we can't condemn everyone. There are "bad people" and "radicals" in every group, but just like we don'y want to be viewed the same as religious who bomb abortion clinics, they don't want to be viewed the same way as their worst members. If posting about other religions stick to defending your argument with valid points and good research, but never criticize, insult, or stereotype an entire group of people. We're allowed to have different opinions, but we should always maintain respect for others. Edited April 22, 2013 by jazzytakara

Anastasia13
27 seconds. I have received a few different uncharitable replies on this phorum, enough to almost leave for good. I don't think people always remember that our posts are also part of our witness as Christians.

Whatever we type on this forum, some real person elsewhere reads, and they can be just as hurt by what we type as by what we say. Nobody expects anyone to be perfect, but I think we can and should expect a certain level of courtesy and basic respect, seeing as how we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. And we should also prepare ourselves for the fact that sometimes, when we do fall short of that ideal, we might have to hold ourselves accountable for our own behaviour and offer apologies when apologies are called for. Of course, the greatest love we can offer is Truth, because the greatest love is the Word, and the Word is truth. :)
