It doesn't matter if it's the lighting. It still looks purple, and it looks freakin' amesome. Purple is the color of the Eastern Roman Empire, too, so Eastern Catholics could have purple cassocks if they wanted.

Cassock, whether the inner cassock (rason) or the outer cassock (exorason or ryasa), are normally black (for monastics) or grey (for married clergy in some Byzantine-slav Churches).
