I read a really interesting article today and I am wondering about all of your opinions and thoughts. This is not meant to be a debate.

 

Archbishop: Bloggers Not Catholic?

 

Short Version: Author Pat Archbold is taking a quote from Archbishop Vincent Nichols' Sunday homily and saying that Catholic Bloggers need to be reigned in.

From what you read do you think Pat Archbold is missing the point?

I think he's missing the point, yes. Nothing like a little context to clear things up.

 

Of course, like many bloggers, I think Mr. Pat here is intentionally capitalizing on the fact that many people will read such a headline, get their heart rates up and their panties wadded, and will share it around and bring him more traffic.

I think he's missing the point. I see nothing in the Archbishops homily that implies that all blogs are gossip and complaining, or that all bloggers "have no place in the Church". The Archbishop appears to be directing his comments at those negative behaviours specifically. I agree with fink.

Thanks for the feedback. Everything else I've seen in the blogosphere regarding this tells me I'm the odd duck. I'm not trying to do this as shameless promotion, but would you read this and tell me if I'm off base at all?
