Career In The Pro-life Field?

Right now I work 6 days a week (at two separate locations), about 40 hours a week, so I don't have the time to volunteer. I'm interested in volunteering at a pregnancy resource center this summer though. I'm curious if one can make a decent career out of this. I don't have experience in counseling pregnant women in crisis but with volunteer experience under my belt (and with two degrees) I wonder if I could find a paid position. Is this doable at all? I know a lot of the work involved in volunteer, but there has to be a business here, what with counseling, community outreach, and education involved in the mission statement. Thoughts?

Check on the Catholic Volunteer Network website. There might be something available for you given your credentials. Some organizations do offer short term volunteer positions. There is also LAMP in Bronx, NY. Some organizations offer room and board, maybe a stipend, maybe health insurance, maybe even student loan deferrals. Here is a page on their website that allows you to search for programs that would fit your criteria:

I wish you well in your search, HCF

I don't know.  There is a pregnancy resource center near me that I just started volunteering at that has nurses staffed there and I wondered if I could get a nursing job there as well but I can't imagine that they make much money.

In our diocese, there are two Catholic houses for single pregnant women.  If you were able to find something like this in your diocese to work at, you could definitely make it a paid position.  They often need social workers and other helpers to guide and counsel the women.  The women who live there are usually in a position where they cannot adequately care for themselves or they are in danger of abortion.  My cousin is living at one right now.  She was adopted and has psychological problems.  They have been VERY helpful in getting her back on the right track.  I would think there is a need for this everywhere.

I will suggest that if you are losing a position in May that you start looking now.

My internship is ending but I still have a job in my field. It's just part-time.
