Nun Dolls

I have to special order the Poor Clare Doll and provide descriptions of each part of the habit and a picture.  It definitely is not on sale  ($75.00).  Maybe after she has the pattern it will be available on the site.

Alle, did you order it yet? I found another nun doll co. that will make a PCC habit too (very accurate, cute dolls) besides PCCs themselves of course which would be the best. I need to scan a few things in for this, so I can come back later. God bless!

No.  I need to get her the directions.  I'll wait. Thanks! :bananarap:

http://www.nunsandsuch.com/Catalog.html Here's another Nun Doll website from the old thread!

That's the one I'm talking about :like: I was emailing the lady who makes those a while back and she sent me that book Lest We Forget with a bunch more pictures of the dolls she makes (though b&w) Here are two of the Poor Clares (I tried taking pictures but that was blurrier)

There's a little typo there, Eternal Word* :j  There are a ton of other orders in the book too. Many of them are very detailed. She mostly uses Barbie dolls but she also has two other types .. little Kelly dolls (made by Barbie) & porcelain dolls (which are more beautiful but more expensive) On that site, http://www.nunsandsuch.com/Catalog.html the Mary Knoll doll is porcelien. And she will also do custom orders/you can send in your own doll to dress, I'm pretty sure. She told me she sometimes does American Girl dolls too   I was never a fan of Barbie but I loved American Girls!

So in the back of the book there were the Kelly dolls and I thought they were cute and prettier than the Saintly Sisters, although their faces/eyes are painted on like Barbie dolls rather than the "sleep eyes" the SS dolls seem to have. Still I like their expression better, but that's just me  :like:  It's still the baby face look. I'm not sure how their sizes compare, but I believe Kelly dolls are.. 5'' (just looked it up, oh that is pretty small, smaller than I thought, still cute though)

I wonder how she can get such detail on such tiny dolls! Just looked it up and Saintly Sisters are 13'' Okay, they're pretty different. I just wish the faces on the SS's were a little different.. I guess they look a lot like Ginny dolls, which are pretty classic.

So I emailed Josie and here's what she said for the prices for a PCC doll

I do the Poor Clares either in Brown or Grey, I leave that to the buyer.

The cost of the dolls is as follows:

Barbie Nun is 85.00 plus 7.00 shipping

Kelly Nun is 55.00 plus 5.00 shipping

16 inch porcelain and cloth doll is 150.00 and 15.00 shipping.

Also, she has another site here with bigger and more pictures (almost the same url as the first one I almost missed it) - http://www.nunsandsuch.com/index.htm

Either way, if you decide to go with the Saintly Sisters you can send them these pictures! : ) And don't forget you could also try to get one made by PCCs themselves of course ... like Minooka maybe since they had that one in their shop. Sorry if I'm making things complicated though! lol  I can be a perfectionist at times! :smile3: God bless!

Edit: just an FYI, it says here that those Kelly dolls can be dressed to "any order" :like: in case anyone was wondering - http://www.nunsandsuch.com/other_dolls.htm

one more post! I just noticed the PCC and PCPA are pictured on her site too

I like that PCC habit in grey! also she seems to have gotten the detail down that their habits are actually very wide and shaped as a cross, and there's a lot of material the cord holds in .. I learned that from a friend who was a PCC  :like:

If I ever get a Carmelite one, I'd like to get one like this

made by the Carmelites in Ã‰cija, Spain - http://carmelitasecija.es.tl/  this is one of the most real to life ones I've seen. she has the Day Veil and outer veil (Communion, Parlor or Great Veil) which both French and Spanish Discalced Carmelites have always had, including St. Therese (though it's not visible in many of the photos of her, it's there, look closely at all of them and the other Sisters) it's usually left out on Carmelite nun dolls, which is understandable, they're small. anyway, I love the attention to detail on these and they sell them  http://carmelitasecija.es.tl/PEDIDOS.htm

p.s. one of the photos where you can see the Day Veil of St. Therese, pulled out a bit more than the Spanish nuns do. I never noticed this until someone pointed it out to me. I used to think the French Carmels must wear the large outer one all the time (like the Community of St. John for instance, or Poor Clares, etc) It's worn for pictures and other times like Mass, but otherwise they just wear the Day Veil which is tucked under the scapular most of the time.

btw, this site is awe.some - http://www.archives-carmel-lisieux.fr/carmel/
