OnlySunshine
I have a question...just as communities wear a habit and yes those that don't..either or we usually know that they are a religious. Being a CV..is it a personal decision to reveal in someway or another that one is a CV or is it all between oneself and our Lord?? Also can a divorced woman with children become a CV?? Thank You and please forgive my ignorance! A woman has to be a virgin to receive the Rite of Consecration. Women who have been raped, however, can still receive the Consecration because it was against their will. A woman cannot have been married or live in open violation of chastity (living with her boyfriend is one example). Consecrated Virgins are to be a public witness to Christ in the secular world. They live alone and care for themselves. At the Rite of Consecration, they are veiled and given a ring. The ring is always worn and the veil is worn on solemn occasions (such as the anniversary of Consecration). The vocation of Consecrated Virginity is meant to be public. Consecrated Hermits, however, are allowed to be more hidden. Hope this helps!
