EcceNovaFacioOmni
I tend to think so: H.H. Pope Francis will announce this month an Ecumenical Council Vatican III for May 2014. J.L. GeorgiiMichael
The account isn't verified, but that doesn't mean much, as it seems rather new. Time will tell. I'd say we treat it as a hoax until such a time as it's proven otherwise.
Brother Adam
I would guess it is a hoax.
Apotheoun
I think the Church should skip Vatican III and go directly to Vatican IV.
GeorgiiMichael
I think the Church should skip Vatican III and go directly to Vatican IV. I thought you were going to make a point about how there are too many bishops to fit in the Vatican now and they'd have to hold it somewhere else. That wouldn't be a problem, because most things done at the Vatican these days take place outside in St. Peter's square.

Are you suggesting they'd have their council meetings outside?

Fidei Defensor
Are you suggesting they'd have their council meetings outside? Sure. Why not? They would need to buy a lot of sunglasses.
EcceNovaFacioOmni
I hope it's held at a Pizza Hut. What a boon for their business that would be.
EcceNovaFacioOmni
In seriousness, I just brought it up here because it surprisingly wasn't getting much attention. It's certainly a ruse. Edited April 6, 2013 by thedude
Tony
I'd say 99% chance it's fake. Apparently there was another cardinal Tauran account (now deactivated) that claimed Benedict XVI passed away last month, obviously this isn't true. https://twitter.com/CatholicNewsSvc/status/317288197463887875 I'd be willing to bet it's the same guy. Interesting, I hadn't heard of that story. Poor Cardinal Tauran.
Era Might
I think the Church should skip Vatican III and go directly to Vatican IV. This isn't monopoly. But Vatican III would be kind of lazy...shell out a few bucks and fly to Istanbul or at least another Italian city like the old days.
