dUSt
If you want the stellar speed and performance that phatmass enjoys, go with Knownhost. As far as domain, do not use GoDaddy unless you like supporting smut. Dotster and Namecheap are two inexpensive alternatives. I personally like to keep my domain registrar separate from my host, just so all my eggs aren't in one basket.
arfink
It's almost impossible to avoid GoDaddy's resellers. I would suggest buying your domain from Hover, a division of Tucows, which is basically the only ethical DNS provider left in the US. https://www.hover.com/
EcceNovaFacioOmni
I had a good experience with siteground.com, but haven't managed a website in years.
Starets
I always had good service and support from Start Logic. They have lots of scripts setup so you can install various content management systems like Wordpress or Joomla. I do not currently host a website however. Start Logic uses tucows as their registrar

zealousdefender
I have been using 1and1.com for about 10 years. I don't know their prices for single domains. I have a business package for which I am billed quarterly and includes three domains. I get additional domains at a cost of about $10 per year. They always have some kind of special going on. Go to their website and check them out.
roshanshifana
So I'm starting a website and need to buy the domain name from a company....any recommendations? For the moment, I'm going to need hosting as well..... recommendations? Thanks. By getting the domain registration and hosting service from the same provider you can save the total cost for getting the service separately .The provider have the responsibility to handle both service with good quality .Sometimes cheaper to purchase the domain with the host, but not always. They take care about your domain. All you need to remember is renewal date. You can also benefit from promotional offers as a customer. However I know many people who prefer to register their domains in their own domain account with any domain registrar. So i will recommend you to get the domain registration and web hosting service from the online vendor XnYnZ.com .Here you will get good service at cheap rate.
