Good Music

I'm looking for good music. Name a genre, I am into it (pop, rock, country, hip-hop, rap, bluegrass, really anything). But I'm looking for music to listen to on bad days/weeks or just an overall difficult time. I have several songs I listen to in times like that, but I'm kind of getting sick of my usual stuff. It can be Christian, secular, angry, encouraging, etc, honestly, I don't have a preference.

Throw stuff at me.

I wrote up a great post that disappeared. <_< Will try to re-create it now.

SO: I usually recommend this as a joke, but I legitimately enjoy this music, and perhaps you will too. Here we go:
J-POP!!!

But, hang on a moment. Check out these links and see what you think. I really like Yui Horie, and her occasional band Kurobara Hozonkai. My favourite album by her is called Honey Jet. Here are a few songs from it:

Moving right along if you are not into J-pop, another genre I love is Baroque string music. Stuff especially like Vivaldi, Boccherini, Pergolesi, etc.. Here is some Vivaldi:

And lastly, just on a lark, I really love Itzhak Perlman, especially his klezmer work. Check this out:

Also, I can send you my Youtube favourites if you like. There is a lot of stuff on there, about half of which is music from a huge array of genres. J-pop to 70s punk to classical to Mongolian folk to American bluegrass. I will not leave a public link to it, in case the moderators do not appreciate that some of the videos contained therein have language issues. But if you would like it, drop me a PM.

That being said, if you would like to see what I have favourited in terms of any genre in particular, let me know and I will check my list.

My favourite musicians and bands at present include:

Active Child (techno/electronic/choral)

Tallest Man on Earth (folk)

The National (indie rock)
Ben Howard (folk). I saw him in concert a couple of nights ago - he was absolutely wonderful. He produces very uplifting music - I like listening to him when things are a bit off-colour.

And, of course, if you like choral and classical music, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Samuel Barber and Mendelssohn are in my opinion always brilliant.

Oh! I should not have forgotten this, because I was just listening to it a couple nights ago.

Bôa. Kind of an alt-rock band from the late nineties, but with some clear funk influences, and maybe a pinch of something along the lines of nu-metal. Although J_Lol would be able to better label their metal influences, probably.

Good couple songs by them:

I found this cool band called Whitehorse a while back. They're a husband/wife duo and I really enjoy their music.

Emily Bear's music is pretty epic. She's 11 years old and composes her own pieces - solo, orchestral, jazz, you name it - and has performed at Carnegie Hall twice. She's also signed with Quincy Jones.

Composed at age 6 (age 9 at time of performance), won ASCAP award

After every time I see this, most other things just seem sort of trite to me. I love this video.
