Ellenita
I think this thread is heading for muddy water. Catholic doctrine is being misrepresented. Its dangerous to assume that Catholics and Protestants "mean the same thing" but use different words. This subject is better left to someone like a Jimmy Akin or a Scott Hahn. None of us here has enough smarts to discuss it.
Wise words Likos....

Archangel Raphael
Well my intention for the thread was not only for Protestants to find out more of how the Catholics see things, but also the other way around. In other words, just to come to an understanding of eachother, don't need to accept another's way of Worshiping God but just so we don't look at eachother like enemies like some do. It all comes down to this, we ALL serve the Lord, the Trinity, even though it may be in a different way but we still acknowledge and follow His Word. I dunno, but hey, whatever ya guys like. And to answer Jason's question: Techinically, I am Catholic. I was baptized Catholic and such. But God hasn't led me to always go to a Catholic church, I go wherever He leads me, cause He's called me to preach the Word.
MParedon
Hmmm, I think I got a Protestant/Catholic bridge thingy... When a Protestant says something like 'God spoke to me,' well usually most Catholics would have to pick his/her eyes off the floor . Because the first thing that comes to mind would be that the person said that God literally spoke to them ala burning bush or literal voices in their heads. Now, Catholics that are good at apologetics or conversing with non-Catholics understand the meaning, but for the poor little Catholic that doesn't get out much (when it comes to theological talk) then it can be a little shocking. cmotherofpirl
I used to work in the MH/MR field. If somebody said that to me, I would ask them what else were their little voices telling them.
Well, if you like....I'm heartily sorry for the people that do not take the time to learn or come to an understanding. I apologize to you on behalf of Catholics and on behalf of non-Catholics that do that. I don't know if that means much to you, but it is sincere on my part. mulls
don't sweat it, i've been around long enough to understand who's here to do what, i just wanted to let some people know that not everybody is interested in "bridging the gap." but i appreciate your concern, thanks. How do you know it's not your emotions or opinions (neither of which is a reliable means of determining the right thing to do, I might add)?
