April Fool's Day?

Only other nurses would understand this, but when I was studying to be a midwife, April 1st came around while I was rotating through the postpartum ward.  When we got our morning briefing on all our patients, in the nurses' station, one was described as being severely jaundiced with a pronounced scoliosis [curvature of the spine].  Following the hand-over, it was the custom for all the new shift nurses to literally check each patient in our open "Nightingale" ward to say hello and introduce ourselves.  On the bed of the "jaundiced patient" there was a large banana.

Antigonos, that is CLASSIC!!!!!   :bananarap:   (However, <--- THIS banana seems to have Black Water Fever!)

I'll share this story...

When I was a postulant, the novitiate house also served as a retreat house.  The postulants and novices did a lot of the behind-the-scenes cleaning type work.  You know how busy running big holidays can be for 15 or 20 people.... then you can imagine that having 150 or so people over many weekends meant that by Sunday afternoon, we were EXHAUSTED... we'd been running straight from Friday evening.

Sunday afternoons meant a long nap, extra recreation, some extra prayer time and a quiet night with an extra sleep-in the next day... (well, till like 6AM which was a treat!).  So we tended to observe the 'day of rest' from Sunday Afternoon until Monday Evening.   Sometimes stuff would happen and we'd lose our 'rest time' but generally it was something we could count on.  And we REALLY looked forward to it!

One Sunday afternoon the Postulant Mistress assembled the postulants and told us that she was really sorry, but something had come up and our rest would have to be postponed.  There was an unexpected VIP meeting scheduled for early the next morning, so we would have to spend the rest of the afternoon after our hour-long siesta doing a full clean-up of the meeting hall that needed to be used.  W were to put on our oldest postulant outfits, our tennis shoes and rain boots, and our dirty-work aprons, and bring all the cleaning supplies with us from the postulancy and meet outside the hall we were to clean at 3pm.  She was so sorry, but no, it simply could NOT wait until tomorrow.  We all looked like we wanted to cry, but oh well.... we took our naps and then dressed in the scut-work clothes and dragged mops, pails, vacuum cleaner and all the cleaning supplies over to the hall dressed as Carol Burnett look-alikes, but in postulant rags.

And we were really feeling sorry for ourselves, truth be told.

When we opened the door to the hall, there were all the Professed Sisters, a movie projector and ice cream... and they told us the joke was on us -- it was a halloween prank!   So rather than an extra cleaning job, what we got was a movie, ice cream and a wonderful tale to share!!!

THEY GOT US GOOD!!!....... :winner:

DO IT AND I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER

I WILLL!!!!

Actually I got an idea that would be totally funny but I am still thinking about how I am actually going to do it.

We should share ideas on how to prank her or other Sisters.

Maybe we can get one or two of the Sisters to help us....I don't know

The idea that I have might be too immature but it won't be dangerous so that is a good thing.

I can't say in public what it is because people probably say it is too immature or something.

It is a really funny idea though.
