at0m1c
Ok, Jesus' father on earth was Joseph. But God was his father in what sense? Joseph is his father in what sense?
Pontifex
Joseph is a stepfather so to speak. He loved Jesus like his own, but we believe that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Joseph was the earthly guardian of Mary and Jesus and he taught Jesus like he would his own flesh and blood. In the Scriptures Jesus referred to God as his Father. In fact, it is what led to his death. The relationship between Jesus and the Father, resides in the Trinity. The Trinity is of course a mystery that is difficult to understand, but we believe that God is one, with three persons. (Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit) This is starting point to understanding Jesus. Peace, Fr. Pontifex
