fides' Jack
I think it's understandable that everyone here is going to be biased in support of good Catholic role models - especially those moving toward canonization. Anything coming from a media outlet is going to biased, generally toward a more left-leaning ideology. So in the end it's bias vs bias, but don't expect most PMers to be respectful of "news" that comes out of Huffington - especially when that news is critical of a woman who was loved by the whole world. Autumn Dusk
Honestly the shame isn't in Mother Teresa, it's that the most supportive people to her missionaries as a group are mormons....Catholics in general fall far short of their lovely role model
dominicansoul
I can say I was with the missionaries of Charity(contemplatives for a few years in formation) They are a wonderful, holy and beautiful community, and they live their poverty very strictly. Not a penny, is wasted or "stashed" away for some non-religious purpose. They don't make a cent from anything, it is all divine providence, God has a lot of money :smile2: The problem with the world is they don't understand God's will, a calling, or a charism within a religious order. It is for Jesus, to Jesus, to quench His Thirst for love and souls. Not social work. We just have to pray for their conversion Thessalonian and keep spreading the truth and light. :like3: nice one haterade.....I like it. I visited their American convent in Detroit Michigan and was astonished at the level of poverty they embraced!

thessalonian
How does he know that the researchers or the reviewers are atheists? That's not the study How the heck do I know other than the paper that is publishing is an atheist paper. Doubt many Christians would publish in such a paper. I am sure it is know about these two instructors. Prove it as false. I see other articles that say they are atheists as well when I do a search. But really what difference does it make. They borrowed heavily from Hitchens the articles I read say. Edited March 28, 2013 by thessalonian

4588686
And for the record, something being from Hitchens doesn't disqualify. He was once a very good investigative journalist and essayist. God is not great was a low-point of what had been a great career.

We here a few anecdotal incidents and you broad brush the whole group. Likely some are morons. I hightly doubt that every one of the 700 facilities is missmanaged and makes the mistakes that the article casts on them all. I am sure some mistakes are made. MOR-MON missionaries. I know that Mother Teresa's 700 facilties are on the top of the list for MORMON missionaries (every able bodied adult must do a 1 year stint, 2-3 if they want to become an elder) but I'm going to take a gander that 99% of Catholics can't list one outside of Calcutta. KnightofChrist
How does he know that the researchers or the reviewers are atheists? That's not the study The main researcher, Serge Larivée, belongs to the Atheistic/Skeptic think tank know as, Sceptiques du Québec. So perhaps that is part of the basis for making the claim. http://www.sceptiques.qc.ca/ressources/lectures/auteurs/larivee Evidence that the group is atheistic, from their dictionary. God "Imaginary being which man confers supernatural powers or attributes that it immortality, omniscience, telekinesis and invisibility. Such a creation meets many needs, for example, obtain protection against supernatural enemies or an explanation of the origin of things as good and evil, fire and wind, life and death." And my bad. I had written 'here is the paper' before I had found the link. I should have revised it to say the actual paper is behind a pay wall, and the link given has a link to the journal where the paper can be found, for a price. I was trying to do too many things at one time.
