Nerve Damage And Schtuff

Praise God, I have a chronic blood clot (the old one turned into scar tissue) in my arm, not a new one, so it is essentially not dangerous (besides quite a bit of restricted blood flow in my arm). But there are some complications. The fact that my arm still goes purple, swollen, heavy, painful, cold, hot, tingly, numb, etc, means that my nerve damage from the compression is worse than I had anticipated. I had both the neurological and the vascular variant of my illness, and so, when they removed the rib, the took the compression away. But I started having pain in May 2012, and had surgery in December 2012. Which means that my nerves are probably really damaged. Probably/possibly for life. Hopefully it won't always be this bad, and we are doing everything we can to fix it, but it's kind of like crumbling a piece of paper. It's never quite the same even after you straighten it back out.

Now, I'm having another surgery for my vein soon. They're going to try to re-do the venogram where they punctured my vein last time. Because I have some increased blood flow, we're hoping that they'll be able to bust the clot instead of puncturing the vein this time. But this is a surgery you have to be awake for, and I was not given enough sedative last time, so that was not cool. ;)

Please keep me in your prayers that I will be able to handle this again (it's not the worst thing in the world), and that everything works out. I'm trying to think purely technically about my illness and try to not to get so emotionally involved again, but if this is something I will have to deal with forever, I may have a hard time with that. So pray that I can keep on keeping on, and if I have to, adjust to chronic pain when the time comes.

Thank you.
