Alberto Guimaraes
Peace and Good! :saint2: At St. Gemma Galgani Parish - Belo Horizonte - Brazil, the year 2010 (I don' t know if this use is following), children went barefoot and dressing a simple white tunic when they made their First Communion. :saint2: Beautiful! Like Moses in front of the burning bush, on Holy Ground and in God' s presence, they left their sandals, in total disposition to step on the Holy Ground of the church and receiving physically, the first time, Our Lord' s presence! :saint2: Here are the pictures of that commovent act: https://picasaweb.google.com/105435166701560854426/Eucaristia?noredirect=1# :pope2: Hoping your comments, I wish you all a Holy and Happy Easter Br. Papist
This post is a lie: YOU'RE NOT SOCRATES! You're actually Pythagoras. You referring to the historical Socrates? Can anyone here say they actually seen with their own eyes this Socrates?
Quid Est Veritas?
I like the idea that inspired the children's dress, but I disagree with the application. Scripture speaks of our souls being like "a Bride adorned for Her Husband". I think that wearing your Sunday Best helps you to realize that First Communion is a joyous, special, occasion because God will be literally inside you and what we wear should reflect that. Apotheoun
Since the Eastern Churches (Catholic and Orthodox) baptize, chrismate with holy myron (i.e., confirm), and give holy communion to babies in one liturgical service, it follows that those receiving communion for the first time are normally barefoot. That is te coolest thing ever! I remember one church I went to for Good Friday the priest had people take their shoes off to venerate the Cross.
