MissScripture
Anyone make them for Good Friday? I was thinking of doing it this year, but don't have a recipe. A family friend used to make them for us every Good Friday growing up.
Nihil Obstat
We buy them occasionally. I am not a big fan of store-bought ones. I am sure that homemade buns are much better.
franciscanheart
I do! They are yum. :) It's a cinnamon roll recipe but not rolled up like cinnamon rolls and topped with the same icing in the shape of a cross. :like:
CatholicCid
This recipe seems doable - http://www.epicurious./recipes/food/views/Hot-Cross-Buns-101452 Might try them as well this year.
franciscanheart
MissScripture, This recipe is pretty good. I made slight modifications last year, but overall, it works. :)
PhuturePriest
My mother makes them every year. I don't like cinnamon rolls (I'm not a fan of cinnamon at all), but I like the one ones she does because they have little or no cinnamon at all, and there is no icing on it. Just make sure you don't forget that it's a day of fasting. ;) Edited March 24, 2013 by FuturePriest387

But personally, because I am nursing a baby and have health issues, I'm exempt. ;)
IgnatiusofLoyola
Funny, I've never even thought of making hot cross buns myself. But, I should have--I love them so much that I wish they were available all year. And, one very odd thing is that, even though I have lived in Chicago for a long time, I have never found a bakery that makes GREAT hot cross buns. I found one bakery that made acceptable ones, but most hot cross buns I've found here in Chicago are truly lame.

OnlySunshine
I've never made them but I'd like to try them. I'd have to make the gluten-free version, of course. There are quite a few recipes online. :)
dUSt
I just like plain ol' hot buns, but my wife rarely likes me back.
elizabeth09
They sound good. I have to talk with my mom about baking them one day.
