Anastasia13
It also depends on the reason for no sleep. Ie being up with sick kids or not getting sleep cause you were out, partying I was up cleaning because I was lazy earlier in the day, and then woke up about 2 hours later and happened to have a headache and just never quite got to sleep again. Read a little, was online a little, thought over some life things, realized I need to be more aware of little temptations toward falling into more temptation, still need to do some research for life stuff and talk to some old ladies at church if nothing else about some of it that can probably wait a week, should probably have spent more time reading my Bible than the few minutes I did, got a robe because I was cold, took it off by got a warmer PJ top, ate a snack with the painkiller and bread after making this thread... I think I spent a few hours just lying in bed on one side or the other. Should probably have checked if I needed my inhalor too, but I are not the brightest in the wee hours of the morning-I do basic math better than common sense at that time of night/morning. xTrishaxLynnx
I've gone to church on a hour of sleep then worked a 12 hour soft right after. Almost Nothing will keep me from church during Easter. Christ sacrificed his own life for ours sins. Going a day without sleep pales in comparison. Just my opinion though. Everyone is different I see your point. I am sure she does not intend to show lack of respect and appreciation for Christ's sacrifice by not attending, but it's not only about her not getting to mass, either. In fact, she was going to just have an energy drink and go, but some of us gave her the advice not to go this morning simply because, while she might make it to mass just fine, by the end of a longer mass than usual, more time having passed since she woke up, and the crash from the energy drink, she might be much more tired, making it dangerous to herself and others if she were to drive. Anastasia13
Like i said, everyone Is different. Please either post something practical for today or if it happens again or something edifying in the spirit of Palm Sunday. If getting to church was not important to me, I would not have bothered asking for advice here. My brain is sub par atm. IcePrincessKRS
I'm probably going to try doing that, but I don't know if I can or not because a possible schedule conflict. If the other item on your calendar isn't your job you should skip it and opt for Jesus instead. I slept like poo last night (massive thunderstorm and a kid in my bed kept me awake most of the night), I am exhausted today. Our pastor started Mass 30 minutes earlier than usual. I got out of bed an hour earlier than I usually do on Sunday and got myself and my 4 kids ready for Mass. If I can pull this off I am sure you can make it safely to a different Mass, too. Lil Red
That is more sleep than I had, I am 30 miles from church, and it ends in an hour and a half (I was so hungry I was almost sick to my stomach earlier and just finished eating). excuses, excuses, excuses. Apotheoun
And if you suggest napping, bear in mind that I won't actually succeed at that until about 7.5 hours before I get up for work. I have traditionally taken terrible care of myself in regard to sleep-I know naps do not happen. I want to go. My head may hurt later. I have job app stuff to do. Do what you believe to be correct based upon the canons and traditions of the Armenian Church. If you are concerned, consult the pastor of your parish as soon as it is logistically possible. franciscanheart
Yes, you should. As an aside, the fact that you had to ask the Internet is probably reason for concern. I see a whole lot of excuses for why you can't make it to Mass. Besides the obvious of "you're an adult and should be able to figure this one out -- even realize that YES you should go to Mass", why make a thread asking this if you're ultimately just not going to go? Attention? Approval? Sympathy? I've a feeling this will come across directly, which is good, because when it comes to Mass, I prefer to be frank. Especially since I got home at 6am and was at my parish (a half hour away from my home) (and I had to drive out of my way today by a good 15 minutes to avoid half marathon road closures) at 10:15am, in the loft and ready to warm up and then pray. Yes, you should go. You should not make excuses. You should be an adult and make mature, adult decisions. Good life decisions: that's my motto. Tony
I'm going to lean tword yes, you should go but I'm not going to assume you are making excuses. I know how insomnia is, it inhibits your ability to think straight, I've asked myself many times if I should go to Mass when I wasn't able to sleep at all, but, yes, you should. Maggyie
Keep in mind that failing to keep the Sabbath is violating one of the 10 commandments. In my experience, people who truly don't care, don't bother to ask the Internet, or anyone else, if they should go. They just don't go. Which is about 75% of our fellow Catholics. So I'm glad that you care enough to ask yourself, and others this question. What I would do is call the rectory (any rectory, really) and ask to be dispensed.
