Habemus Papam - The Movie

I started watching a movie available on Netflix streaming called "We Have a Pope" (2011).

It's pretty funny! The movie starts showing scenes from a pope's funeral, then actually goes into some great shots of all the cardinals praying and processing into the Sistine Chapel. It shows what voting might be like inside the Sistine Chapel. One scene I thought was funny is when one of the cardinals starts tapping his pencil on the table. Other cardinals start doing it, and pretty soon there are several tapping along (a scene that you might see inside an elementary classroom).

Once the new pope is elected, he accepts, but then changes his mind right before he goes out onto the balcony. The movie then focuses on his doubts and fears over the next few days while all the faithful wait, and all the cardinals are prohibited from leaving. lol

It is very realistic in the sense of everything they seem to get right about Catholicism and the process, and remains respectful throughout (I still have about 20 minutes left to watch). Pretty funny. Subtitled though, so if reading is not your thing, well, you wouldn't be on an internet forum.

Basilisa Marie

I loved the movie, but absolutely hate the ending.

But other people I know don't mind the ending as much as I do.

I've been wondering about that, too.  I haven't used my Netflix service in a while thanks to homework but I might try to watch it this weekend.  :)

I agree. Loved the movie, especially the scene of the Cardinals playing volleyball. But I did not care for the ending...

Watch it, dUSt. See what you think..

I can't take it. I have to Google what happens before I watch the movie.

:secret: Rosebud turns out to be his sled.
