Briana Leigh Cecilia Tobin
Hey Everyone! Sorry if this has already been discussed - I'm new, so I haven't seen it if it has. My family doesn't exactly like watching movies that are conducive to growing in holiness, and they don't like particularly boring movies. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for some good, catholic movies that aren't super extremely cheesy? (preferably that are easily accessible, as in from netflix of blockbuster) I'm probably one of the worst people at trying to find new movies. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Even movies that may not be catholic, but are pretty 'family oriented' I suppose would be good. Thanks! FutureSister2009
There's some like the Song of Bernadette. I've been a fan of movies that have Christian morals like The Blind Side, Rudy, Courageous, and New Hope.
dUSt
"There Be Dragons" is on Netflix streaming. It's pretty good. It's about a writer and his strained relationship with his father--and his exploration into his father's past with Opus Dei founder St Jose Maria Escriva during a war. 1/2 of the movie focuses on St Escriva and he is played and portrayed well by that dude from HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The one annoying thing about it for me was that they had the "old" version of the father played by the same actor as the "young" version of the father--so it was pretty obvious that the "old" version was just a young guy in make-up. I hate movies that do that. I just wish they'd get an old actor that kinda looks like the young actor, as it'd be a lot less distracting.

krissylou
I can help! I can help! Also, what age range are we talking about for your family? I mean, Babette's Feast is amazing, but I wouldn't expect a six-year-old to sit through it. http://sisterrosemovies.com/sister-rose
Kia ora
Into Great Silence. It's 'boring', but worth a mention. No dialogue, nothing much happens. But I loved it. Of Gods and Men might be a better choice, but it's in French (just gotta find English subtitles). Edited March 20, 2013 by Kia ora
