Ever Work Full-time And Go To School?

I can save $3000 with the quarter system or I can spend more money for a slightly more relaxed semester system. I've never taken a serious course while working more than 30 hours a week and will continue job hunting somewhat while I study. Thoughts? Advice?

I work full time and take 1 class a semester. Im currently paying about $3000 per class out of my own pocket because I am not eligible financial aid or scholarships (my school requires 6 or more credits to qualify)

I found that I am much less stressed having a full time job secure even while Im still taking classes (even if its a light load). There is no right way to get your schooling done, do it in a way that works best for you!

I went to school full-time and worked 50 hours a week.

My advice would be strong time-management. Also, know your own limitations and don't push yourself more than you think you are capable.

I'm doing that now. It's not easy, but it can be done. Listen to Roamin; that's solid advice.

Thanks dude!

I was actually management for a large retail company while getting my masters. What helped me the most was that I had a regular day off from work and dedicated that day to nothing but school work.

Like I said earlier; don't over-extend yourself. I've had classmates that messed up both their jobs and classwork cause they took on too much.

People who get full-time jobs while working on their degree-smart in this economy.

My job-hard to do poorly. Guess I'll get a CPA since that is more secure than changing to sales.

I hated the quarter system, but it is $3000 cheaper when I total my classes and is slightly closer to work so I would have more time to eat and study before class. I had an easier time getting good grades at a semester system. Those of you who work full-time and study, did you face this decision? If so, how did you resolve it?

I'm doing it and lets just say things like sleep get put on the back burner. I have learned to draw the line at over 20 hours awake with only 4 hours of sleep. You also learn to do homework during breaks and on the train.

Face what decision? Quarters or semesters?

I worked anywhere from 40 - 60 hours a week plus took classes. One semester I took 13 classes (yes, classes, not credits. no, not overachiever, just music major) It's doable. Tough, but doable. Time management is a good thing to have. I never did. I also never had a solid/regular schedule for work (I also worked at least 12 hours each Saturday and Sunday, sometimes up to 18, so I would recommend a job with at least one weekend day off), so I definitely also would recommend finding a job where you CAN have a regular schedule. For me, there did come a point where I had choose which was more important: the degree itself or the grades. I chose the degree and the grades slipped, but there really is only so much you can put your body through. Don't regret it, though.

Yup, I'll elaborate later if needed.
