It is a valid one but there is situations where a child (without a parent.) can find a opposite sex role model. how often it happens depends on the situation. The Quality of the role model depends on the situation as well. It maybe good or bad but they can learn from that role model those exact behaviors you have mentioned. I did find good male role models (usually a priest or a prominent male member of the church I was attending at that time). However, that was the situation I was in. Some not always that lucky as. I am just defending this position due to the millions of military brats out there and they came out fine without the lasting effects of lacking a parent.
