DiscerningCatholic
So why them but not us? I'm sure that plane tickets for the active members of Phatmass would still be cheaper than the 3 million (give or take a few) that they were spending on treadmills for shrimp... Catholictothecore
Won't they turn to ash at the sight of a real crucifix?
morostheos
I think the more contact these politicians have with our new pope the better - I pray they will have a profound conversion experience through an encounter with our new Holy Father. penguin31
You never know. It could wind up being quite educational for one or both.
Apotheoun
I am always pleased when non-Catholic political personalities visit the Vatican.
Lil Red
i guess this is where the rubber will meet the road, so to speak. will they present themselves for communion? if they do, will they actually be able to receive? if they do or don't receive, either way will send a message to the faithful. we need to pray for them, and for the Pope. Hopefully they will be considerate of the Church's teaching on the proper preparation for the reception of holy communion by choosing not to receive, but sadly neither Biden nor Pelosi strike me as being all that considerate. cmaD2006
Given what Pope Francis just apparently did to Cardinal Law.... Again I have to interrupt my Lenten silence ... I haven't been able to find a Vatican reference to that. There is an italian report of what happened, and a ncronline report that a Vatican Spokesman said it wasn't true. It almost sounds like a paparazzi type of report ... not to discredit the Italian report, but it does happen. So the first person to find a Vatican/Church reference confirming or refuting this gets the point (the reference can be in Italian). Otherwise I'd rather simply think that the Pope's first order of business at St. Mary Major was to pray before his 1st full day as Pope.
Basilisa Marie
I don't know about the Italian paper, but it was reported in the Daily Mail, which is famous for literally making things up and wildly exaggerating the truth.
