Why I Have Quit Catholicism To Become An Episcopalian

Do Episcopalians not believe in a common baptism?

The Episcopal Church is experiencing a general theological collapse, so there may be some Episcopalians who reject Catholic (and other Christian) baptism if it is done in a patriarchal fashion (i.e., if it is done in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The article I posted from Beliefnet should help to reveal what is going on in the Episcopal Church.

One of the best quotes from the article is the following:

"A few years ago, the annual national Episcopal convention overwhelmingly refused even to consider a resolution affirming that Jesus Christ is Lord."

What an incredibly stupid reason for leaving the Church.

It does seem to lack coherence. Maybe she has a problem with affirming that Jesus is Lord.

Hokey smokes, Bullwinkle. You are probably spot on.

I had sympathy for her until she got to the part where "the pope quit, so I quit too"... lol, I mean seriously?  the other stuff is hard, the scandals are hard on everyone especially people with children, no matter how many statistics there are out there it's something I imagine would be difficult.  the jab at hierarchical advancement was a bit stupid, but also a bit more understandable when you live in modern times and haven't quite internalized the idea that vocations aren't supposed to follow the same patterns as worldly careers (funny thing about the motivation for wanting women priests is that it's a motivation that presumes the very prestige and power for the clerical state that the very same people would, with a bit of a point, recognize as an integral part of clerical corruption)... fine, it's tough, I can understand and sympathize and wish she'd reconsider and maybe have a discussion...

but then she goes "the pope quit, so I quit too"... lol, I mean, it's clearly not actually her reason, not sure whether she believes it or is just using the moment.  you realize the pope hasn't quit his religion?  he simply resigned his position, because in the Church you're not supposed to want to obtain power and control.  which is why women or gays or anyone else wanting to be let in to the priesthood on some argument that they're not getting enough power or control or voice in the Church is the exact opposite kind of argument.  if a woman wishes she could serve in a sacrificial priesthood and feels called to it, that represents noble motivations and I think she should recognize she can find a way to serve humbly in another way; but when people argue about the lack of female power in the Church, they're going the wrong direction.  they should be decrying anyone, male or female, who wishes to use the priesthood or the episcopate to obtain power, prestige, or control over the Church.  obviously we're human and that kind of thing happens, many people try to use their positioning for the sake of personal control, but that's the exact kind of thing that should be distasteful for us... we should all hope God never calls any of us, regardless of our gender, to hierarchically advance beyond the position of altar server!!!

anyway, the Pope quit, so I think I'm going to drop out of school now.  I mean, if the 85 year old pontiff is too old and weak to keep on leading a billion Catholics, what hope do I have being 25 and having to write some papers and take some exams?!!

Any community that aligns itself with the world is bound to destroy itself and it's for an obvious reason. The more alike with are with the world, the less we are ourselves and eventually it's like the tribes of Israel forever disappearing into the foriegn masses. We become them and they become us and all that remains is a title which is easily thrown away.

She listed her reasons for leaving the Catholic Church. Why she joining the Episcopal Church?  b/c pastor lady sounds like the nuns from school. Sounds reasonable.
