Tufsoles
When I found out I just got done with on of my grad classes(only one this semester the rest are filler courses, I am taking guitar, Tai chi, and Public Speaking courses. Real easy stuff.) and off to pick up a resident to drive to an appointment and deal with 2 priests who needed some help with medical issues. They both got sick at the same time and they called me to get help from time to time)
Tony
I got home from my walk up to the convenience store and my mom told me there was a new pope. Another 20-30 minutes later, he was introduced :)
the171
I was with my anti-Catholic, new age grandma who kept screaming, "It'll be the black guy." I kept responding, "THERE ARE LOTS OF BLACK GUYS!!" I was on the phone with Claire when the name was announced. I wish someone would have recorded that conversation.
FutureCarmeliteClaire
When the white smoke was announced, I was in the car on the way home from getting three teeth pulled. My mom is like, "Hey, we should turn on the radio, the ballot should be happening right about now." We turn it on and we hear, "Breaking news from the Vatican, there is WHITE SMOKE coming from the Sistine Chapel..." We scream. Then we rushed home and Dylana called and we were shrieking, speculating, and crying together watching EWTN. I too wish that had been recorded. MissyP89
I got my Pope Alarm text 20 minutes after I learned of the white smoke. Annoying ... but it probably would have saved me from waiting so long!
Amppax
I was cleaning out my families old home, and listening to EWTN. I was working in our basement packing boxes when I heard the noise of the crowd roaring. The announcers at first dismissed it, and didn't think it was white smoke. After about a minute, they started saying it was! I ran upstairs and told my Mom. I went to my grandparents house and watched the pope come out onto the balcony from there. It was a very memorable afternoon. My grandfather (who I am convinced is a saint) really liked him.
CatholicCid
I was teaching a youth group about the conclave. I'm glad they timed it with my lesson plan. :hehe2:
NovemberFourth
I was helping an elderly, and somewhat confused, patient get ready for bed. We watched it unfolding on TV together and he told me about his time in Rome. :)
Kateri89
I was at the gym and then stopped at Target on my way home. I had been listening to my iPod but once I unplugged it from the car radio, my local catholic station was on and the broadcasters were saying there was white smoke. I didn't want to miss the live moment of the announcement so I sat there with the car running for a few minutes and then skipped Target and went home and turned on EWTN to see the big moment. It. Was. Amazing.
Kylie Spinelli
I was in line at the post office, waiting to mail a package when my phone dinged. It was PopeAlarm. "White Smoke!" I immediately grinned the biggest smile I ever bore on my face, and bounced up and down like I had to use the restroom. I WAS SO EXCITED I COULDN'T CONTAIN MYSELF!! But I was in public with a bunch of strangers who probably couldn't care less, so I didn't scream "HABEMUS PAPAM!!" like I thought I would have. But when I got up to the counter and the clerk asked me how I was, I said, "I'm really good! We have a new Pope!" He looked at me kind of confused and then was like, "oh, cool." HAHA After that I sped off to work and told everyone, checking my phone every 10 seconds for news of who it was or what his name would be! What an amazing day! penguin31
Sitting in the chat here on PM, watching what I *presumed* to be a documentary on the fascinating life of Vatican City seagulls, when all of a sudden there's a new Pope.
MissScripture
I was attempting to take a nap, but the munchkin had other ideas. I ended up waiting to see the new Pope in the office with my hubby and son, but part way through the wait, I heard a knock at the door. It was the neighbor lady inviting me to a party over the weekend, and all I could think was, "I had better not miss the Pope!" I didn't. :)
LinaSt.Cecilia2772
I was just leaving an old friends shop and heading back to my grandparents house when I got the Pope Alarm text. I freaked out and kinda sped all the way back. Once I got there, they had the news on and was glued to the TV.
