theculturewarrior
AGGH I'm thinking like a prot! By not having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, I meant, as the protestants do. That's not to say we don't accept him in the Sacraments. Edited May 26, 2004 by theculturewarrior

Sojourner
Well, you're talking about before coming home ... so yeah, when I was five years old I prayed the prayer, and I'd say I no longer identify with evangelical theology, so I guess I I'd be the second option. But, I've also experienced radical conversion in my life, so it's a bit of the third option as well. I'd actually say that I've come to understand conversion in a totally different way than I did before, and that process of understanding happened concurrently with my movement toward the Catholic Church ... where I once would have pointed to my 5-year-old prayer as a point at which I "converted" or "dedicated my life to Jesus," I now see conversion as a daily process of turning more fully toward God little bits at a time. It's a transformation, my heart is being changed day by day. Some days I show it more than others, though.
Archaeology cat
I chose the 2nd option, though I'm not sure it really says what I mean. In my opinion, the baptism of the Holy Spirit and my actual, physical baptism by water occurred at the same time, since I was older. Both baptisms are necessary, but the wording gets a little confusing. I guess for most people the baptism of the Holy Spirit corresponds to their confirmation, when they learn to own their baptism and follow Christ in body & spirit, at least that's my take. But I'm still learning, as I am just in the process of learning more so I can convert.
akamarymag
I accepted christ as my persinal savior at a catholic retreat. so it was more like saying yes to his call and starting a journey, i dont know if that answerd the question
Apotheoun
I say the Eastern Catholic "Jesus Prayer" all the time: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen. But I've never said the Evangelical Protestant "Sinner's Prayer," and I used to be a Protestant.
BeenaBobba
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen.
It's funny you say that because I think the same thing when someone mentions the "Sinner's Prayer." My mind automatically thinks of the Jesus Prayer for some reason. BeenaBobba
I didn't pick any of the choices. I believe Jesus is my Lord and Savior, but not in the way that many Protestants do. That's 'cause I'm Catholic. (I've never said the Sinner's Prayer, either, being that I'm a cradle Catholic.) God bless, Jen
Joseph
I have said the sinner's prayer before, but that was way before I became Catholic or knew anything about Catholicism. I guess that means all my bases are covered.

homeschoolmom
I guessing that TCW meant "those of you who once called yourselves 'evangelical' but now call yourselves 'Catholic'"... ... but that takes more typing....
