Nihil Obstat
Is Pope Francis hostile to the MEF? Time well tell. Some rumours say yes, some say no. I do not think we have enough information yet to make any informed evaluations. Time will tell.
mortify
Is Pope Francis hostile to the MEF? A huge indication will be if Pope Francis chooses a new master of ceremonies for papal liturgies. Guido Marini currently holds that office and he is very traditional in his approach.

I did very much like seeing him today on the balcony. His presence is reassuring, on an emotional level.
Basilisa Marie
A huge indication will be if Pope Francis chooses a new master of ceremonies for papal liturgies. Guido Marini currently holds that office and he is very traditional in his approach. If he chooses a new one, I really hope it's Msgr John Cihak. :) Partly because I know him and he works as an MC in the Vatican.
Apotheoun
Great. Until then, I prefer the itinerant poverty of Christ to the institutional power of the Pope. And I am glad, with his choice of the name Francis, Cardinal Bergoglio moved a step in that direction. I don't have a problem with poverty either. Being poor myself. But I doubt that Pope Francis is going to renounce power. From what I understand he was quite willing to use power in Buenos Aires.

I think it is likely he will keep most people in place for a while, but he will no doubt make changes at some point.
