Lefebvre The Movie

I would post it but I'd probably get a warning for it. Have to be judicious with my posts so that some of the warnings will have expired as others are added. :hehe2:

Nihil Obstat

Yes

I have watched the entire video of the consecrations a few times. There is a very strange atmosphere. They were very worried for the Church, I think.

Wasn't it a short period after the Assissi gathering for World Prayer?

Two years afterwards.

Assisi certainly did not help the situation, but we would not exactly call it a direct cause. The consecrations took place when they did mainly because Archbishop Lefebvre knew that he was going to die soon (he was already getting rather weak at the time, and needed to retire), and he felt that negotiations with John Paul II and then-Cardinal Ratzinger had temporarily broken down.

Are there going to be any computer generated special effects in this movie? It will not make a lot of money if it does not contain a lot of cgi.

:bounce:

I hear Lefebvre is played by Andy Serkis in a motion-capture suit.

Here is the Econe sermon of Archbishop Lefebvre, even if we disagree with his words they serve as an interesting historical artifact none the less

It is an interesting look into a very chaotic, very frightening time for many men of the Church.

I wonder where would we be if he didn't do it. In an ironic sort of way, I think the Church overall is in a better position. I mean we definetly would not have had an indult.

Well, perhaps if Archbishop Lefebvre had never existed, or if he had backed down. But I have speculated before, what if the Holy Ghost Fathers had embraced his leadership, rather than casting them out? What if the entire Congregation of the Holy Ghost had gotten behind Archbishop Lefebvre and applied to Pope Paul to retain the traditional Mass? What if the entire congregation had done as he did in 1971, and simply keep saying the traditional Mass? I wonder as well, every day.

That's a fascinating speculation. Africa would be the new vanguard and bulwark of Catholicism!
