mortify
I agree it looks very interesting. What's noteworthy is that Archbishop Lefebvres work in African seemed to serve as a protective incubation period. In those times it took weeks to get to Africa by boat and so he was very isolated from the "goings on" of the modern world. He commented that when he returned to Europe for the Second Vatican Council he noted significant changes in thought among his fellow bishops, it was as if a new spirit had swept through the Western world that Lefebvre had been impervious to. It is true, the world changed while he was in Dakar. For a while he was very much in favour with Pius XII, but things changed rather quickly when John XXIII came into power, causing him to give up his role as Apostolic Delegate to French Africa. He was quite close to Pope Pius XII. For some reason, not quite so much with John XXIII.

Nihil Obstat
That is interesting Nihil, a lot of history to be read into Have you read his biography, written by Bishop Tissier de Mallerais? Excellent book. I loved every page of it. Obviously you would not expect it to be 'perfectly objective', but it is an extremely valuable perspective, and contains a lot of information you will not find anywhere else. I would highly recommend it to anybody with any interest whatsoever in the subject.

I did listen to his Econe sermon on youtube years ago, his "state of emergency" argument was very thought provoking. Ultimately the changes we have seen are still in their infancy relative to history, time will tell the truth of these matters.
Apotheoun
Are there going to be any computer generated special effects in this movie? It will not make a lot of money if it does not contain a lot of cgi. :bounce: Edited March 14, 2013 by Apotheoun

A lot of aspects of his life and mission kind of get lost in the shuffle. There is this caricature of him that exists in popular sources, which really does not always correspond to the real man. The real Archbishop was much more than that.
