Anna
Ok, I actually did receive this in the mail. At first, I thought about sending it to Likos. But I feared he would die in a fit of laughter. Then, I decided to share it with y'all, cuz it's just too precious to keep to myself....or, maybe I just have a sick sense of humor. Well, anyway, I received this "prayer rug" in the mail the other day, and the senders go on and on and on about their "very old 50-year old church," which they call "St. Matthew's Churches." This website describes the mail scam in detail...Enjoy. These con artists trying to pose as...I dunno, maybe Catholics?...are just so pathetic that I couldn't contain myself... :thatsfunny:  Here ya go: http://www.maxmccoy.com/Shroud%20of%20Tulsa.htm

Sojourner
Me too!! And so did my neighbors. (They gave it to me and asked me about it, told me it looked "Catholic"). Ha ha. I looked it up online and also found that site, along with several others debunking it as a total scam.
Anna
I think this scam artist is actually trying to pose as a Catholic organization! But, oh, sorry, I'm laughing so hard I can hardly type...Let me quote a part of his letter...And the words will appear just as they do in the letter, type-o's and all.... "If you need more joy, peace, health, money, a new car, a new house, healing in family communication, or whatever, we, as a very old (53 years) church, want to know about it." Oh, I am cracking up!!!! We must all be on the same sucker list...
Sojourner
Oh yeah, that's the letter. I loved the "very old (53 years)" bit. Ha ha! That was the thing, though, that made me think they might not be Catholic, that an "old" church is 53 years ... maybe they're Methodist or Lutheran or something. Quietfire
But its really sad when you think about it though, this is just one more reason why many people dislike religion. Granted, this (Shroud of Tulsa) is NOT a religion. Putting a picture of someone on paper to resemble Christ and then blatently lying to them for your own personal gain can only be the work of one creature. Its sad that hes made so much off of so many that truly wanted to believe, and he did it through deception. Peace all.
