mortify
Enough Catholic vs Catholic debate! ;) But all kidding aside, I believe Cardinal Dolan indicated it was Francis of Assisi based on the Popes own words during the conclave.
Nihil Obstat
Xavier University. And the high school in Louisville is usually called just St. X. Sure, but that is the name of a university, which is rather a different thing. All kinds of strange things happen to names of places. There is one in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, St. Francis Xavier, which is rather well known for education, engineering, geology, geophysics, etc.. They shorten it usually to St. F X, but with the Nova Scotia accent you will usually hear it pronounced much more like Seɪn-əf-eks. Leads some people to think it might be called St. of X. LouisvilleFan
Yeah, guess I've heard the schools names so frequently that I've carried them over to the name of the actual saint too. As for which St. Francis, I feel like Pope Francis may be taking Xavier and de Sales as "vicar patrons." He will need something of their missionary spirit and heart for restoring Christian unity that they live out.

Didacus
... It's just Pope Francis. Not Pope Francis I. There's no other pope Francis. When Pope John-Paul I was elected, he took the name of John-Paul I. When a fellow cardinal remarked that he could not take the name <I> until a second was named, he simply remarked <There will be another>. A few weeks later John Paul II was elected. I think there will be a pope Francis II, sooner than we think. My prediction is that it will be Cardinal Ouellet, but I may be biased with that opinion. If I were a betting man, I certainly would have bet on Cardinal Ouellet this time around. With the speed of the conclave, clearly the cardinal-electors knew a lot of things I do not know. Didacus
Why would you want God to forbid a second pope Francis?
