BG45
I had a really really mean French Canadian border guard. He almost wouldn't let me in because he didnt believe the amount of money I had (not much) and that I was going to visit a guy and not staying at his place. He was really nasty about it. That's sad :( I had one as I left the airport in Toronto who laughed at me for declaring a stuffed moose. "Seriously man, if it's liquor, all you have to do is say so." Papist
When I traveled to Toronto every week for 12 months, I did not use a passport. All I used was my birth certificate. That was 1997-98.
Starets
I cleared canadian border customs by telephone once. I was in a private plane and the pilot landed at abbotsford airport (near vancouver) after regular operating hours and the nearest border guard was a 20 minute drive away.. So the pilot cleared us all through via telephone. That was in the early 80s though.
brianthephysicist
In Canada, the beer is stronger, and as a result, the women are prettier. Why would you want to come back? Who's thread is this?

MissyP89
Ah...got my $$$ issues straightened out (so they say), prayed a Chaplet, walked 45 minutes while watching 2 episodes of 19 Kids and Counting. So far so good. If I can accomplish what I'm hoping to on the List tonight, the day will be perfect. Earlier today I was walking through the kitchen. Pretty was out on the deck and started meowing when she saw me, so I went out to see her. She was super chatty while I was on the porch, but was intimidated by my walker ... she would run a few yards away, meow at me from afar, and slowly creep back to where I was sitting. It took about 20 minutes of coaxing, but she finally came over and let me pet her for a minute. Progress! As the weather gets a little warmer I'm going to keep going out to play with her. Hopefully she'll warm up to me soon. But holy moly, she has some serious fur. I'd die if we brought her in.
MissyP89
Today I woke up at 12:15. It's a start. LOL I've determined I need about 9 hours to feel decent. I'm thinking about changing up my sleep and work schedules for the summer, while Mom is off from work. I'm not sure what I think for sure yet, but it would be cool to work from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and then have the afternoon to relax. That could also work during the school year, if I like it. I am tempted by the image in my head of sitting on the back porch in the sun with a book and Pretty. I just don't know if I have it in me to get up at 7:30 and go to bed at 10:30...takes away from that alone time at night I need so badly. Continuing to brainstorm. The thought of a healthy change is so motivating and exciting... Edited April 27, 2013 by MissyP89

MissyP89
Tonight's conversation: M: "They were engaged on March 22..." B: "No no, that's not active enough." M: "What should I write?" B: "They entered the state of engagement..." M: "No that's awful!" B: "They engaged?" M: "No." B: "They took up engagement?" M: "UGH, NO. This is journalism, babe, not hearts and flowers." B: "But I want it to imply that this was an ACTIVE DECISION between two people to commit to each other forever." M: "Brian, this is one of those times you're being odd." B: "You're probably right..." xTrishaxLynnx
"Engaged" is a pretty active word all on its own. Just sayin'...

xTrishaxLynnx
She said yes to his proposal? Yeah, I was thinking if he's really got his heart set on a change of wording, "She accepted his proposal on March 22" might work, but then I realized what I wrote above. ^
