Recordare Virgo
I haven't posted on here for ages, but I wanted to call attention to a wonderful, but very small, community of religious women in Libertyville, Illinois. They are the Daughters of the Immaculata, a traditional community with full habits, completely faithful to the Magisterium. They were founded about ten years ago and were asked to help the Conventual Franciscan Friars in maintaining the great shrine of Our Lady at Marytown in Illinois. They help out at the shrine, work in the bookstore, have a prison ministry and are involved in pro life work. Their foundresses, Mother Mary Patrick and Sister John Mary, are cheerful, hard-working, and very down-to-earth. A great feature of the Daughters of the Immaculata, though, is that they are very receptive to older candidates, provided the woman can perform the work of the community. It seems to me, though, that because there are only three sisters and they are so busy with the work of their apostolate, that they have little time for outreach to potential candidates, which they very much need. If you have a moment and this sounds like a community that would appeal to you, please visit the website at daughtersoftheimmaculata.com. I think they would be delighted to hear from you. OnlySunshine
I have had them listed on my website for older vocations for a while now. I hope they receive more vocations! They are members of CMSWR. :) http://belatedvocations.weebly.com/
nikita92
Thank you for that! They do not however except any women with children. :( PS- I have never heard of them before. I guess I overlooked them on Mater's list.
Recordare Virgo
They are such dedicated and faithful sisters with so much warmth and good humor. I pray so much to see them grow, as the Church certainly needs more like them in these times. I'm hoping some women, young and older, who read about them (thank you, Matermisericordiae for including them in your list) might consider a " come and see" with them. I guess I overlooked them on Mater's list. I'm sorry they don't accept women with children. There are some communities out there that do not like splitting up families, which is understandable. Have you ever considered the Visitation Nuns? There are so many of them! What kind of spirituality (Carmelite, Benedictine, etc) are you looking for? Maybe I could help. ;)
