FutureSister2009
I am jealous of all the people there. They have nothing better to do then stand outside the Vatican and wait. I wish I was there.
OnlySunshine
Raymond Arroyo said a groan arose from St. Peter's Square. Did people really think it would happen today? I had a serious feeling that it would not occur. I keep thinking the 3rd day. :)

Nihil Obstat
I am jealous of all the people there. They have nothing better to do then stand outside the Vatican and wait. I wish I was there. Apparently Rome pretty much shuts down to accommodate the conclave. If there is white smoke, a lot of businesses are probably just going to close for the day so that everyone can go see the announcement.

But I mean people who don't live in Rome who travelled to be there. DId they take time off of school and work just for it? So when is the next ballot? homeschoolmom
I'm so torn about when I hope it will happen. As I posted elsewhere, my daughter's school group is leaving Friday for Rome. So, on the one hand, it would be convenient to have a new pope before they leave so that they don't run the risk of missing the announcement while they are traveling. And having a new pope will allow them to enjoy the Sunday angelus and Wednesday audience that are on their tentative schedule (and they have a better chance of seeing the Sistine Chapel if they are able to clear it out before they have to return home). On the other hand, it would be really cool to actually *be* there when the white smoke comes up. My stomach is in knots.
carmenchristi
Well... Sounds like if all goes as planned and the pope is elected in the next couple days the Mass of beginning of the Petrine ministry will be on the 19th... St. Joseph.

Era Might
I hope it's not at 5:30AM. I don't want to sleep through it. Yeah, 4:30 here. I'll check when I wake up...even if it's white they'll probably wait a while to do all the announcements and stuff.
eagle_eye222001
I think Cardinal Burke would be a great choice, but I am afraid that the cardinals will choose someone who's a little more milquetoast. Perhaps. But my guess is the initial frontrunner people don't get the 2/3 support and they turn to someone they know who can clean up a mess with authority....and that is why I think Cardinal Burke has a better chance than most give him. If it was Cardinal Burke, I would die. He was our Bishop here in La Crosse for quite a while. He essentially built the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe here as well. The chances of him visiting us as Pope would be astronomical… like I said, I'd die. I am of the opinion that the Conclave will end on Thursday evening, as well. I keep thinking "3 days" for some strange reason. I would die happy if I see Cardinal Burke step out onto the balcony as Pope! :woot: You and other Burke fans might just see it! I'm thinking something unexpected this time. A "lion." :crusader2:

dUSt
Wait, no... I vote Tagle. I think the most important trait, other than deep holiness and fidelity, is communication. I think it is time for a great communicator.
