Evangetholic
I got a scapular in the mail today. I did not request or order a scapular. I called my grandmother (the only practicing catholic intimate I have)--she didn't send it. Solution? Until provided with a more mundane explanation, I believe our Blessed Mother sent my name to the [mod] edited at OP request. [/mod]. Kateri89
What kind of scapular? There are many different ones. I have a brown scapular and have hidden green scapulars in my family's homes. I keep praying for conversions :beg:

WillT
A priest has to do the ceremony. It's pretty simple from what I remember.
Evangetholic
A priest has to do the ceremony. It's pretty simple from what I remember. OK, my priest isn't a fan of Marian devotions. Can a priest other than my pastor do it? (I'm thinking about a Traditionalist priest who says Mass here twice a month. I guess it's simpler to ask him than you. :p )
Nihil Obstat
Any priest can do it. And you can find the investiture online, in case they are not familiar with it.

reminiscere
Any priest can invest someone in the scapular. Here is the text of the blessing and prayers in English. Investiture in the Brown Scapular V. Show us, O Lord, Your mercy. R. And grant us Your salvation. V. O Lord, hear my prayer. R. And let my cry come unto You. V. The Lord be with you. R. And with your spirit. Let us pray: Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, sanctify+ by Your power this scapular, which for love of You and for love of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Your servant will wear devoutly, so that through the intercession of the same Virgin Mary, Mother of God, and protected against the evil spirit, they persevere until death in Your grace. You who live and reign world without end. Amen. The Priest sprinkles the Scapular with holy water and invests the person, saying: Receive this blessed Scapular and ask the Most Holy Virgin that by her merits, it may be worn with no stain of sin, protect you from all harm and bring you to everlasting life. Amen. Then after placing the scapular on the person, the priest says: I, by the power vested in me, admit you to participate in all the spiritual benefits obtained through the mercy of Jesus Christ by the Religious Order of Mount Carmel. In the name of the Father+and of the Son+and of the Holy Spirit+. Amen. May Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and earth, bless you, He who has deigned to join you to the confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel; we beseech her to crush the head of the ancient serpent so that you may enter into possession of your eternal heritage through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
