ithinkjesusiscool
Free will kinda s.ucks sometimes. God "not stopping you from sinning" is really God not interfering with your free will. It's not God's problem for "not helping you"; it's your problem - as is the case for ALL of us - for not resisting temptation. You don't sin because God makes you sin or doesn't tell you to stop; you know sinning is wrong but sin anyway. It's us, not God. Don't blame your sinning on "God being dumb and not helping you." Our sinful humanity is not God's problem. people always say it's my fault. It's never God's fault. Maybe Catholicism isn't really my religion  Go home, OP. You are drunk. I only drink tea. Also, the whole "when God does something dumb like not helping me" is about the most immature thing ever. Why should God do things your way? The thought is silly. A dictator always want it his way....but if God is no dictator then this sounds a bit strange....ok look, yes I am very angry with God. Me and John Lennon are the angry ones... DiscerningCatholic
people always say it's my fault. It's never God's fault. Maybe Catholicism isn't really my religion  Any sins that we commit ARE our fault. Not Satan's; he tempts you, but YOU are the one who chooses to do wrong even though you are capable of doing the right thing. Not God's; if He took away our free will, we would be no different than every other animal (apart from the fact that we have immortal souls). We'd be puppets on strings instead of rational, thinking, freely choosing creatures. If you think the right religion is the one that says that your sins are all God's fault... And yes, if you're looking for a religion that says, "No, honey, your sins are okay; we know you tried your best...just forget about them and life will be all sunshine and flowers...it's all that nasty God's fault for giving you free will," Catholicism is NOT for you. Christianity in general is not for you. I'm still hoping you're being sarcastic. :| Edited March 11, 2013 by DiscerningCatholic
Autumn Dusk
people always say it's my fault. It's never God's fault. Me and John Lennon are the angry ones... Err I didn't say dictator. But being angry at God does no good. He had this whole creation of the universe thing that puts him in charge. Maybe you have mommy/daddy issues and it's safer to be angry at God than the people who actually mistreated you. Even if you don't believe in the loving Jesus sort the fact that you have rules to live by, the fact that you CAN do things wrong is real.
Basilisa Marie
Dear fellow human beings, Confiteor makes me upset. I know I am supposed to say that I'm sorry for my evilness. The thing is, when Gid does something dumb eg not helping me He always gets away with it. I think God should tell me sorry for being rude to me. How do you even nanage to say the Confiteor? Well...to be fair to our liturgy, the confiteor is supposed to make us feel a bit upset. It's a very, very ancient part of our liturgy, and it's a good thing. When we come together at mass, one of the first things we do is own up to all the sins we've committed. Did you know that when we say the confiteor together at mass, our venial sins are forgiven? It's part of making sure we're good with God and good with our fellow Catholics before we celebrate the Mass together. In a way we're further strengthening the Body of Christ; so in that sense, it's similar to the Sign of Peace. One of the hardest things we have to learn is that God does not operate on the same wavelength that we do. We aren't in charge - God is, and God gets to decide how He's going to answer our prayers. It's part of the whole, "Not my will, but your will be done" thing.
ithinkjesusiscool
Well...to be fair to our liturgy, the confiteor is supposed to make us feel a bit upset. Well, when I am upset I just want to take the monstrance with the bread in it a throw it on the floor and scream F-you. I don't think being upset helps us at all. so what exactly do you mean? Autumn Dusk
Well, when I am upset I just want to take the monstrance with the bread in it a throw it on the floor and scream F-you. I don't think being upset helps us at all. so what exactly do you mean? I'm not sure if you're just really immature, ignorant or a troll. You seem to display a great amount of anger, much of it displaced on God becuase He wants you to be sorry that you did something wrong. The confiteor appeals to not only God but everyone else. I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, (so you're speaking to God and to your fellow humans) that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; (you know, that grumpy looking old guy that you didn't hold the door open for, the person you failed to love, the mean things you said) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; (this is a reparation for the 3 sins of Peter denying Jesus. 3 is considered a "perfect" number. You are letting it be known that you ask for PERFECT forgiveness) therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. I again, see NO issue with this. We ask eachother for prayer all the time. So you're mad at God? Join the club. There's loads of people mad at God. People who have lost homes, or children, people who have suffered from grievous diseases their whole lives. People who were abandoned or abused. But guess what? God didn't cause the bad, He wants to bring us to good. And many people who have lost everything who were abused or abandoned or are addicted find comfort in God and His mercy. They help others out of the great conundrum that is sin. We hurt others all the time both purposefully and by accident. Have you ever cut someone off because you were in a hurry? Have you ever ranted at a sales clerk? Have you ever forgotten a friend's birthday or decided to buy yourself an expensive dinner when you could of treated your classmate to burgers? Sin is selfishness. It is good to seek forgiveness for the little things we do wrong so they don't become big things. You don't think you ever do anything wrong? Allllrighty. the171
I have so many reasons to hate God, but God is not the source of my suffering. You know what is? Either me abusing my free will or others doing the same. After a while of blaming God for everything, I had to face the fact that God isn't the big, bearded man watching us suffer. (God really isn't a man either, but that is a different topic) God loves us so much that he have us this gift of free will. We either embrace the gift, or stomp on it and slap God in the face with it. God doesn't impose sin upon us. God doesn't force feed us love. God doesn't need us. God wants us. /endrant
the171
(Oh and because God wants us, he wants what is best for us. The confiteor should make us feel bad because we crucified God. EACH TIME WE SIN WE MURDER GOD. Digest that.)
