Autumn Dusk
I think that many people are making it much more than we are. There is so much anti-pope garbage, second coming, end of the world junk. Then there is the traddies-mondernist-charasmatis at eachother's heels. Do I care about the election of a new pope? I can't do anything about it, it dosn't really impact me, so in some ways no, I don't care either.
Luigi
It's not a sin - of any kind - to not care about who the next pope will be, as long as you accept the pope's authority. It's not a horse race, or the Superbowl, or the World Series. We don't have to root for one guy over another. But it would help if you cared enough to at least pray that the Holy Spirit enlightens and guides the cardinals before and during the election process ( and enlightens and guides the pope after he's elected). Learn a prayer and say it once!
Guest
I think Pope Benedict was the ish..And I hope Cardinal Arinze is the next Pope...So I care but at the same time I honestly don't....And I know that's wrong of me....More evidence I'm worthless without Jesus....I'm lucky He loves me... FutureSister2009
I don't care who the new Pope is, I just care that he's good and faithful and will keep the Catholic Church strong
Debra Little
Why are you so negative? This may not be helpful to others here.
Autumn Dusk
Why are you so negative? This may not be helpful to others here. I don't know who you're adressing becuase you didn't quote but several of us here repeated we felt the same way. I think that by virtue of our 24/7 media and our age ( average poster being between 15-30) we are supposed to "care" but feel bad when we don't. I think this thread is GOOD because it highlights that caring takes different forms.

Ash Wednesday
Not that I don't care, but I never quite know what to make of the secular/general world's interest and fascination with it. It's cool but the ignorance is annoying as well. I guess it is what it is, some people genuinely just don't know better and are curious. It's all just surreal. It feels a bit like a bunch of strange people decided to sit down and join my friends and I for our usual sitting at the diner, and they want to join in our regular conversation and I'm wondering where they came from. Autumn Dusk
Blessed Pope John Paul made us part of the process. Our prayers are needed. This I really don't get. While i can understand how my prayers may affect myself or my friends or even my community by strengthing me and giving me a disposition more open to God's Will, I see no feasible reason how praying for some old men in a far away place who make decisions that I can't control will do any good.
