Slappo
Does anyone have experience using one of these or own one? I'm getting into a morning workout routine (on week 4 right now and going strong!), and want to add protein smoothies for breakfast and possibly a blended lunch full of fruits/veggies and more nutritious foods. Right now breakfast routine is a greek yogurt and a fiber bar. A snack between breakfast and lunch, and then lunch is another fiber bar and a hot pocket. Not horrible, but I'd like to get away from the hot pocket or frozen high fat lunch every day (sometimes its a microwavable pizza). Also, the fiber bars are not horrible for me, but they do seem to have a decent amount of fat and sugar (7g fat 8g sugar), so limiting those would be a plus too. I just ordered a nutribullet, although the infomercial for it kind of boggles my mind on how a company can actually advertise that their blender has magical powers to "break down cells and unleash the nutrients". Kind of a joke to me, but the design and easy clean up of the product is what I like not the supposed amazing powers to break down cells and unleash nutrients. Autumn Dusk
make your own hot pockets. Roll out pizza dough (buy from store) the size of a cookie sheet. Cut down lengthwise and then across 3 times (divide into 8 parts) $1 Steam 1lb bag frozen broccoli (or other favorite veg) and dump it in the food processor $1 take 1/2 pound of meat cook it to your desired flavor, dice $2 1/4- 1/2 lb shredded cheese. $1 Combine mixture in bowl. You can make all sorts of things....buffalo chicken (broclli/kale), steak and cheese (greenbeans), taco (peas) basically anything you eat in a hot pocket. plop goop in the middle of each dough and develop your own method for rolling/covering till you achieve a "pocket". Score top. sprinkle parm or garlic powder for color/flavor. Bake until the crust is done. Let cool. Place in ziplock bags and freeze. 8 decent, very healthy meals for about $5-6 depending on what meat/cheese you use. Also---- If you can plug things in at your desk, get a rice steamer. there are 50 cent rice "sleeves" in my grocer in the spanish section, everything from "asian" rice to "spanish" rice to cheesy rice. To make it heartier buy a can of beans. My rice steamer came with a veg steaming basket so I dump in the rice packet, use 1/2 can of beans, add water. stick the rest of the beans in a tupperware and put it in the office fridge) and then have a warm rice and beans meal an hour later.
