krissylou
One thing jumps out at me -- the family only gets two letters per YEAR? Is it just me or does that sound like they are the strictest of the strict? Which can be fine if that's what they're called to do, but wow ... krissylou
When she takes vows, she dies to the world. The Poor Clares are very faithful to that. :) The Poor Clares near me say that it is most common for new entrants to have monthly family visits in their first year. Obviously different communities approach things differently but the idea of only two LETTERS per year struck me as particularly austere.
nikita92
It's not Roswell NM PCC. It is located in VA. Where that famous former college basketball player entered some years ago.
Lumiere
It's not Roswell NM PCC. It is located in VA. Where that famous former college basketball player entered some years ago. It is the Poor Clare Monastery of Mary, Mother of the Church. Here is an aerial photo. Edited March 8, 2013 by Lumiere

Chiquitunga
Awe.some article!! Thanks for sharing! She looks so happy! Yes, I have heard the PCCs in Roswell have a similar policy of two letters and visits a year, I'm pretty sure. A priest once told me he knew a family who had a daughter in Roswell and another in the Carmel of JMJ in Valparaiso, NE and they said Roswell was "way stricter" than Valparaiso when it came to communication with the family. Although there are the double grilles at Valparaiso and a screen for the PCCs .. and at Valparaiso you really cannot see the nuns when they receive Holy Communion, as again, double grilles and they cover their faces, whereas with the Roswell PCCs and others founded by them (like this one in Alexandria, VA) you can see the nuns when they receive Holy Communion pretty well .. still, communication with family is much less with them.
