GeorgiiMichael
Mental health issues make him sound like he maybe insane or something. Perhaps he was just angry because of his profound grief. And that's the problem with society and how they view mental health issues. Someone who is depressed has a mental health issue but they're not insane. This man is clearly going through mental trauma and automatically assuming insanity does him no favors and does the myriad of people with mental health issues no favors either. Well yes, but one can also have deep emotions and do stupid things but not have a mental health problem. Which was my point.
Autumn Dusk
Well yes, but one can also have deep emotions and do stupid things but not have a mental health problem. Which was my point. There's stupid and crossing the line. Everyone has momentary lapses in judgment. Everyone gets angry and cuts people off, or gives a mother with a screaming child a dirty look, talks on their phone during a meeting or heck even boots a chiowwa after it's bitten them on the ankle several times. One, in good mental conscience, does not begin mass normally then stop and light a picture on fire. We do need better education and help for mental illness, but quite frankly, many people, including myself do not have the capacity to deal with a man who set a picture of his former hero alight. I do not know enough about his mental health to say either way for sure. Clearly he was emotional, clearly what he did with his emotions was wrong. But to say he has a mental health issue I cannot say, and thus will not say.

No, your point was that you thought I was calling him insane. Not all mental health issues are major, distress leading to rash actions is a mental health issue, but it's not necessarily a problem that requires anything more than time to heal. If I cut my hand I might not need to go to the doctor but I'm still not healthy. A priest burning a picture of the last pope in the middle of Mass might not be indicative of a major mental health issue, but it isn't the action of a healthy man. I know what my point was, I wasn't clear at first and for that I apologize, but I did make myself clear later. All we can know for sure is that he got upset and did something stupid. Anything more than that is speculation and nothing more.
