HollyWilliams
Hey everyone. I heard about a devotion that appeared in Latin America which revolves around "Santa Muerte". Apparently this is the "saint of death" but "she" is not actually a saint at all. It is some sort of weird devotion which has been condemned by the Catholic Church. From what I understand, it has some sort of connection to Santeria or the Occult or something. Anyway, if you all could help me out with some orthodox resources to learn about this so I can warn others about it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Evangetholic
The Mexican Church put out a pastoral letter a while ago I think, as did the Archdiocese of Chicago. Let me see if I can find them.
Evangetholic
Ok. Apparently the Archdiocese of Chicago never released an official statement and "the pastoral letter" I remembered from the Mexican bishops, was actually only a press release that said what you and I could say. The Spanish language wiki article is better than the English if you can read spanish you might consider looking at it.
