qfnol31
I've met a fake bishop before and he tried pretty hard to fit in. He did pretty well, sadly. I also had a bishop come up to me before and wanted to see a priest. He asked me if [Joseph*] was available to see him, but was wearing a blue polo and a leather jacket and tennis shoes when he came to see me, right after I had finished going to Mass. Come to find out he had just finished riding his motorcycle so I was a bit shocked to discover it was a bishop, but still, this just goes to show you that you can never really tell for certain who's truly a bishop unless you know. I know this bishop now and he's pretty fun to have around, but back then I had no clue. *Name changed so he doesn't find out I'm talking about him online. Did you think you were going to stop by, drop a story like that, and not give details???
qfnol31
Did you think you were going to stop by, drop a story like that, and not give details??? LoL, sorry, I meet lots of crazy people all the time so I didn't mean to leave out the details. This guy goes to Mass pretty regularly and dresses in clerics. He wears a pectoral cross and dresses exactly like you'd expect a bishop to dress. I wouldn't have known better except: 1) My boss told me that he's cooky (and not a bishop) 2) He's too young to be a bishop 3) I know all the bishops in the area But it's really odd that someone would choose to walk around in vestments all the time. Come to find out, ebay is a great place to buy random episcopal items for sale.

beatitude
I've met a fake priest and a fake nun before, but not a fake bishop. That one takes the cake. Why would anyone go to all the effort?

Well, if you're going to be fake, you should really try for a higher fake "rank" than priest or nun. If you're going to go for it, go all out. Selah
I've met a fake priest and a fake nun before, but not a fake bishop. That one takes the cake. Why would anyone go to all the effort? I know of Protestants who dress up as Bishops in other countries to woo Catholics and Orthodox Christians away from their Church by tricking them. I'll have to find the website for it. You'll laugh your butt off if it doesn't make your head implode first.

eagle_eye222001
Not to mention trying to get away with crummy running shoes and a cassock that is much too short. And the cheap fedora. That part was just insulting. Seriously. If you're going to try something like that, go all the way. This isn't Halloween where you can get away with lazy costumes.
